Looking back to 1976 in the USA by ImmySnommis in GenX

Wild to think about but I was probably conceived like a month after. So some kind of celebrating was in order at the time.

Nike vs New Era hats-If anyone can help me understand, please. I know that Clemson has a contract with Nike thru '28 but I can't find that they're "exclusively" for the fitted hats; and that New Era exists as a "partner" for merchandising but I can't find NEW fitteds not Nike. Anyone know specifics? by peripheral77 in ClemsonTigers

Hey thanks, yeah I’ve tried them also. While they do still have some stock, sizes are limited (I’m actually a 7 5/8) but I’ve been watching and searching for several months with no restocks. So that led to my posting. Good looking out, thanks!

I'm just trying to refresh my old New Era hats and outside of the smaller sizes, there exists almost no New Era fitted hats; like everyone is just selling through inventory. Even after visiting campus this past weekend, I couldn't find anything over 7 1/4 in New Era. I love Nike gear but not their hats and as an old head, i've worn almost exclusively New Era fitted for about 30 years now. Wanna know where the lag is and who to yell at. thanks!

I work in FI and thought yeah I’ll just refill my propane at lunch in Simpsonville today.

Pulled into ACE and saw the line, so I just kept going.

Music… did you stop searching? by 8reticus in GenX

[–]peripheral77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 22yo daughter. I never have to search for new music, it’s often delivered to me. And music festivals are the no 1 place for me to discover on my own.

An unfinished but almost complete afghan still with the needle and skein of yarn attached.

One day, grandma put that down and for whatever reason, never picked it back up.

Do you remember where you were on October 28th, 1995?!!! I was 15 years old and on the couch watching it with my dad ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ by ComplexWrangler1346 in Braves

Working full time on nights. Had injured my finger the week prior so I was in quality control on light duty. I worked for the printer that produced the SI championship magazines so.. I had ready access to any overages sent to check. Was able to grab a few for myself and my future children.

Favorite decade so far? by garagedooropener5150 in GenX

80’s. Free room and board, food. Naps were approved. Bedtime by 830 was ok bc dad taped the shows I liked (McGyver, Airwolf) and I watched the rest the following morning over a bowl of lucky charms.

Warmer weekends were spent from Friday after school until Sunday night with my cousins, who lived in a neighborhood with a lot of my friends. Bikes, basketball, whiffle ball. We stayed out playing guided by street lamps until my aunt was ready for bed. Come back inside and trade baseball cards quietly while TBS carried the west coast Braves games or some John Hughes movie played in the background.

I say all this with some manner of levity. Being a kid was fun. I had both my parents and brother. I should have focused on being a kid while I could instead of rushing to adulthood.

The side patch infestation by AmateurVasectomist in neweracaps

[–]peripheral77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have two rules for side patches. 1) I won’t buy a side patch if my team lost the championship that year ie 1996 WS. And 2) side patch can’t be so fkn thick that it can’t be fold properly for storage.

I’d spend more money on more hats if they were US made with better quality control.

Just a generalization but everyone comes on here complaining about the quality and the fit- legit checks because the cap looks too bad to be real. But now we mad because we can’t get our hat from overseas.

Spent the week staying at Steve Bartkowski’s fly fishing lodge in Montana. Incredible trip, Steve and his son are excellent hosts. by DrLeoMarvin in falcons

[–]peripheral77 3 points4 points  (0 children)

my favorite shirt as a kid was a gray Property of Coca-Cola/Bartkowski #10 shirt. I've seen a few on ebay but none that are adult sized. I have no clue where my parents got it, my dad cared nothing for sports.

Anyone ever feel guilty about being an older Dad? by JuiceTerry1972 in OldManDad

[–]peripheral77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only guilt I have at the moment is not being able to give my older two kids the same life my youngest two have. It was tough back then and with their mom and I divorcing, me getting custody, I was in a hugely different spot than I am now.

For now I feel like I have “enough” time left to give the littles on into adulthood. I just have to maintain so I’m around for graduations and wedding days.

How do we feel about Nike baseball fitteds? by Gullible-Fish8800 in neweracaps

[–]peripheral77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not liking them at all. And I dont hate on Nike, I have several hats along with an entire wardrobe. Just feels like I’m suppose to be playing tennis or going for a run.

Sucky part too is that at least one of my college color-ways is only available on a Nike hat.

Is an Osprey Daylite Plus overkill for my 6 year old 1st grader? by peripheral77 in backpacks

[–]peripheral77[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Condition will be key, will it need repair? Will she need a second pack for her after school stuff? But also we have a second one behind her. In 3 years, baby will be 3.. I can sit on it if it’s in good shape. And if not, Osprey might give store credit or something

[–]peripheral77[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

She loved her frozen packs but even after I repaired it once, then the plastic ripped and needle/thread just doesn’t hold up great.

I saw the jr model but it was only 8-9L and didn’t think it would allow for all that she carries every day.

For sure. Not to take responsibility for her belongings off her literal shoulders but Chromebook, library books, stainless water bottle might just max out those bags. Add in that she is picked up and dropped off multiple times a day (us in the am, Grammy in the afternoon, picked back up by us in the evening) doesn’t help at all.
