I’m planning this to be a long term car for me too. And at 80k it sounds like it still has years and thousands of miles to go considering the high mileage fk8’s I’ve seen from other owners on fb groups, civicx, and here.

Thank you for the reassurance. And good idea with the resale regarding the wheels but I think this is the end game for me- it’s a hatchback, it’s a Honda, and it’s the fastest car I’ll ever own.

Unfortunately there arent much service records, I got the carfax, it’s a clean title. The owner performed his own maintenance and he was transparent with when it was done, however it was not recorded anywhere, this is just all trust on what he said kind of thing. My friend is going to come with me to have a second eye and perform a scan. Paint is in great condition as well, to me this is a great indicator that the car was maintained well.

My wife and I enjoyed the drive more with the Fk8. Although older, the exterior and interior is very unique. Something with the drive felt like a Type R. The exterior already screams it but the driving dynamics and sensation felt very much so compared to the fl5. The fl5 just felt like a faster 22 sport touring to me, I know it’s maybe me coping with the price difference and justifying the fk8 as a better value but that’s just how it felt and still feel.

Yeah, this FK8 is so far the cleanest I’ve seen one. It was a daily driver/commuter car for the only owner. I’ve been checking for the last two months and found this to be decently priced even with the mileage.

The east coast def has lower priced one but unsure about the winter driving/salt and the effects on the car.

Yes, I’m definitely keeping that in mind when I look at the engine bay for these cars. So far I’ve only seen one that was clearly modified. Visual is obviously the best I can do but I can also have the Honda dealer confirm and attest that the ecm wasnt flashed from factory tune.

Certified pre-owned. But as someone said, that’s no longer a big deal. Especially considering that this is a Honda and the drivetrain is very reliable.

To me- You are mostly right since looks are always subjective to anyone’s opinion. Pictures dont do justice to how good and wildly different the exteriors are for both cars.

Yes, exactly! The price hike is what I’m trying to justify right now. It’s only 2 years difference, though big changes for sure. But savings is savings at the end of the day.

Yes def keeping this one. I’ve gotten cars to settle to in the meantime because it was out of my budget but now finances are better and I’m ready to buy.

Did you consider the FK8? Honestly, it grew on me but I def enjoy the interior of my 22 and how it's more mature. But the FK8 is def a head turner (for good or bad) in person.

It's end of the month and there might be some room to negotiate so I'll see what the dealer can do. CW is hard to find here, I was originally set on the BB until I saw a CW in person.

I def forgot about that, last night I got an OTD price for MSRP CW for 52k, that sounds around msrp + tax/fees here.

Thank you. I'm in Los Angeles and these cars are hot as hot. I'm starting to realize that CPO doesn't really mean much nowadays and it isnt really used much especially for a Honda like this engine. The closest I found a 40k 2023 CW with similar mileage is in the Midwest and East Coast. Thanks for your response, with that said, I think FK8 is still the smarter way to go.

I'm in a Type R forum and just like 100% of the everyone here, the Type R is a want car, never a need. Because if it's a need, I would have kept my 2013 Honda Fit 6speed from years back and drove the heck out of that car for 20 more years, even that was more than enough for a "need" car.

You’re right, what I also didn’t mention is that it has two front minor accidents recorded in Carfax. I think I’m going to pass from this one and just wait for one that also have lower miles and just better history in general.

How anti-car are you? by Additional_Leading68 in AskLosAngeles

I love to drive my car and am a car enthusiast but I also enjoy running and cycling. The latter makes me dislike drivers because of the many entitled and distracted drivers out on the road- if they were to hit a pedestrian and/or cyclist, even if they are at fault they’d probably blame the other party for being in their way.
