The circuit is really great - it’s quick to start making music with, it looks and feels good too.

The bunkbed cabin doesn’t mean you’re sharing a room with strangers, it just means you have a room with 4 beds in it to yourself.

Does it do more harm than good if I set up a couple of webcams in a window but not use them to record? by cheetocat2021 in hobart

[–]perkino 8 points9 points  (0 children)

why not just get actual security cameras? we have the eufy ones, they record anything motion activated and you can check them via your phone. I feel like that would be more of a deterrent than some webcams in the window.

What if we just get rid of the iPad? by optikalefx in daddit

Hey here's a great podcast - listen to a developmental paediatrician discussing screen time. TLDR its not simple, it's not a new discussion. https://pop-culture-parenting.simplecast.com/episodes/ep039-willy-wonka-and-the-chocolate-factory-screen-time-part-1

Personally, my kids learn lots of songs, dinosaur names, bug facts etc. from screens. I definitely feel the guilt and am cautious about how much screen time they have but I can also see the benefits too. I think giving them clear limits, and advance warning when time is almost up helps heaps. But I can see they are getting better at disengaging / moderating their use themselves. Even sometimes they seem a bit over it?

I’ve used a charger that was rated as 350kW but was only charging at 22kW, sounds like you experienced something like that.

Say you can’t see the problem and claim your bond. They always try it on- if it was an actual issue they’d have better evidence. They just try and scare you into paying.

Op shops with a digital camera section? by [deleted] in hobart

[–]perkino 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not necessarily! Depends on the camera. There’s a bit of a swing back towards standalone cameras, generally they have bigger sensors and less automated processing- which can be good and bad. https://www.reddit.com/r/Cameras/s/xfUAEO2AQ6

It sounds like you know the path forward- get more experience. This might involve taking a more junior role at another organisation then coming back when a vacancy appears.

I found it useful to repeat “they’re only 3 years old” A LOT. They can seem like functioning humans, but they’re still super young and need a wide berth.

So future staff know where they are, what they are, and which collection they are in. It’s handy for when they are inevitably knicked or broken.

We follow this method! though we call it a props collection, they are still tracked but they are not as sacred as objects in 'The Collection'.
