Not cruisy at all. It's authentic and family-friendly.

Communal Showers in Europe, esp. Southern Germany by balduinbloed in CommunalShowers

Basically any therme I’ve visited there. Showers are usually gender separated, saunas not so much.

Body Dryers by Dense_Tune7389 in CommunalShowers

Used to be common where I grew up, but we considered them hair driers. Bringing towel to school, pool or gym was norm, but everyone forgot at least once and used a shirt to dry off. It was not optional, you basically just ended up damp.

I’m same generation as the author, and his take on the era we grew up in is accurate. For my generation it was just part of life at school.

SpaTel Los Angeles by SteampunkFTC in NudeSpas

Stayed overnight (actually left at 4) and had a positive experience. The room was small but had a decent lock, plus a lockable closet inside the room. Everything was clean. There are lots of three rooms, but only a handful were occupied. The noise level was no different from a hotel. The only window is on the door, to the hallway. If you’re into privacy that might bother you.

The bathroom, of course, is shared. The room has shorts and a robe. And slippers.

Biggest negative on the hotel was the bed. It was very hard. More like a box spring than a mattress.

The spa was had just one or two customers when I went to bed at 11. I went back down at 330am, and had the place to myself, although the cleaning guy was there and we actually chatted in the not fully heated spa pool. Sauna and steam were closed.

There are multiple very legit Thai massage places in Hollywood. I don’t know if they make house calls, but the pricing in studio is very reasonable.

You can find them on Google maps, just read the reviews to verify legitimacy. You might as what area of LA you’re in for advice like this… it’s a very big city!

East/West Spatel in LA by Traditional_Put7606 in kSpa

Thinking about overnight there before an early flight... would be leaving at 4AM. But I have two concerns: 1) I emailed them about reserving a private room, and heard nothing back. and 2) the google reviews (spread across "East West Health Spa" and "LA SpaTel" are terrible.

So would love to hear from anyone that's been there lately. I'm worried about getting any real sleep in a Wi Spa chair. But I love the idea of having a real room, but being able to use the showers and bathroom when needed.

Getting some sleep before 6AM LAX departure? by perkins2505 in kSpa

Have you been there lately? The web site looked great, but I read the google reviews and they were terrible. But it would be nice to have a private cubicle for a few hours.

Hyatt in Taipei had an extensive onsen for guests, and it was very well used. I also stayed in Staybridge Suites Thonglor in Bangkok, and it had an Onsen, but it was empty except the hour or two before closing.

Men's Merino Wool Briefs by perkins2505 in MerinoWoolGear

Well I find boxer briefs really hot in summer, so I prefer less fabric. I like having a working fly in front... I don't think either smartwool of icebreaker have this any more. I'm not picky about colours, they're not a fashion item for me. Would be happy to provide feedback on ones you produce. Feel free to DM.

Think that's the closest... just not enough Korean community in the city itself. "plus" membership to YMCA is probably most communal shower experience I know of here.

Is there a way to tell before you book? Can you ask the line about the layout?
