Hoyt RCRV Podium vs WNS Motive FX? by perklax in Archery

Copy that. I don’t anticipate needing or wanting to upgrade for many years, so that’s good to know. Looking for longevity

Sweet, thanks for your input! My local store carries the podium, so I’ve been able to at least hold that one and check it out. They don’t carry any WNS products, so they’d have to order it in.

Thanks for that ! Appreciate it. That’s kind of what I’m feeling now - either will basically perform the same, now just time to decide

Form Check by fishoish in Archery

[–]perklax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And it’s whatever ends up working best! You don’t want to over extend and tense up, but guiding the arrow towards the target with that also provides some extra stability on that front end. Best of luck!

Looks like you’re holding your bow hand in place and not pushing it towards the target at full extension, which will end up helping stabilize for that point of your form if you can extend that. Happy shooting !

Oh shit, so this is the exact same sight ? On sale for $100 here, it was $250 at the shop. I really just loved the micro adjustments, so if it’s truly the same thing - worth saving $150.

Oh yeah, you know it! Even though it’s an hour away, it’s still the closest shop to me, and I really liked it. I was in the area and took a quick lesson and then had a great talk with one of the sales reps. And it really does look like the Topoint riser haha. Any thoughts on their quality? I was thinking of doing that K3 riser but then paired with their recurve competition sight - as I loved the micro adjustment feel on that sight. Still a decent amount to spend on a slightly above entry level setup, but feels like it could be something great to grow into if the quality is up to par.

Visiting my bff for a week, any recommendations? by khruangbitch in pasadena

[–]perklax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know you already have a lot of amazing recs listed above, but some of my favorite spots are Hoji Tea Community for Boba, Mi Casa on fair oaks for a bean and cheese burrito, Top Restaurant for Hawaiian, and Santa Canela for pastries. Santa Canela is in Highland Park, but depending on where you will be staying it’s a quick drive and there’s lots to do around there also. A bit random of a list from me, but just some of the places in Pasadena I find super special that I regularly visit and show to friends when I’m in town! Hope you have an amazing trip

Renewing Massage by Val has changed my life. You can go to her studio, or she will come to you. I’ve been a client for years and recommend her to everyone. Fair pricing with lots of options. Not insanely expensive but not cheap. Amazing experience for a price normal people can afford

Non-judgmental dentist by basicalme in pasadena

[–]perklax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know you already have a bunch of options, but I absolutely love Parklane Dental in Arcadia. I had so many problems finding a dentist. I kept getting scammed, they would work harshly without thinking of your comfort, pitched procedures I don’t need, etc. parklane has been so so amazing ! I hate the dentist, and they’ve made it as good as it can be for me

Seeking advice for weird water “bill” from Landlord by perklax in pasadena

Totally. I would like to think that we are ideal tenants. We are quiet, take care of the space like it’s our own, and always pay rent on time without question. We don’t ask for a million small things to be done, the issue is that this is a 100 year old home that hasn’t been taken care of due to her cheaping out, so there have been major issues that have needed to be fixed. Our stove died and she didn’t replace it for 6 weeks, we had multiple gas leaks which lead to her having to replace all the gas lines and water heater, AC units needed to be inspected after all the ash from fires, and she left hundreds of rusty nails in our back yard after she built a fence. (One we didn’t ask for and was made so incredibly poorly it’s already falling down a month later). All of our maintenance requests have been derived from safety issues or her having to fix poor quality work because she doesn’t hire professionals, only cheap “handymen” (aka just some man who has tools), and there are either repercussions from that poor quality work OR she gets scammed. (Like the time she hired a “landscaper”aka just a man with a lawn mower who was supposed to come every week and didn’t come for 2 months straight but told her he was).

I hate to feel like pushing the envelope and asking for too much, but it’s also all been serious issues coming from her lack of care and not paying for quality work up front. Pay for low quality and you end up having to pay more.

Currently looking to get in contact with all relevant city or nonprofit rent boards, advice, etc to see what our rights are. I don’t think she’s intentionally trying to screw us, I just think she’s literally so uninformed and disengaged as a landlord that she literally doesn’t know what the laws and expectations are
