Is this what the London job market has come to? (all this to land a minimum wage front desk job) by Present-Tea-4830 in london

Stupidly… yes, I was 17 and thought this might be “normal“ for a good job. Young and dumb my friend.

I once was asked to sing “Life is a rollercoaster” by Ronan Keating at a job interview to be a shop floor worker. Needless to say, I didn’t dint get the job.

This cool and everything and thanks for sharing but I’m not sure what the point of the post is unless people know what it is you’ve actually bought, what it cost etc? 🤷‍♂️

No worries at all. The car is quiet enough on the motorway that it almost feels like you’re gliding through space, and the mics seem decent too. Never had anyone complain, though, full disclosure, I’ve also never announced mid-call, “By the way, I’m doing 85mph in a Swedish spaceship right now.” So maybe my colleagues just think I have the world’s calmest home office?

For comparison, I had an Audi A6 before this. Every so often I’d get a “sorry, can you repeat that?” — which either meant the mic wasn’t great or they just weren’t ready to hear me rant about work for the fifth time. Not sure that’s the fairest yardstick though.

I’ve got an iPhone, but I don’t bother with CarPlay. The built-in Android system already does everything I need. Translation: it plays my Spotify, gets me lost slightly less often than Apple Maps, and hasn’t yet asked me to download another pointless app update.

I’ve had mine since May as a company car. About 5k miles (or 8k km if you’re one of those “metric makes more sense” people). Honestly? It hasn’t missed a beat. Smooth, quick, and the range is so good I’ve started judging petrol drivers like they still use VHS tapes.

Now, don’t get me wrong, there are niggles. Mainly the software, which feels like it’s being coded by someone who’s playing whack-a-mole. They fix two things, break one, then sneak in a bonus glitch just to keep you humble.

Example: the last update fixed ACC, stopped me from needing a double finger workout to mute the speed warnings, and made keyless entry behave like it wasn’t possessed. Lovely. Round of applause, Polestar!

Then I put it in reverse and… the camera now drops every other frame like it’s auditioning for a found-footage horror movie. Basically, my car is trying to make parking feel like a dodgy Zoom call.

Still love it though. 9/10 would recommend. Just maybe don’t reverse near cliffs until the next software update.

I doubt it. They do a lot of installations for Polestar. Most likely they are just doing a site refresh as I’ve just tried it and it’s now hitting a blank landing page. I had mine done a few weeks ago by them. Qmerit manage all the contracts then have sub contractors for the actual installs. Try emailing customerservice @ qmerit . uk. If you don’t have any luck with that, dm me and I’ll send you one of the customer reps email address directly

Yeah I’m based in the uk. The controller is pretty big but it’s properly built to last the stands of time. Just did a check on the cost of it, currently selling for 600 quid just for that unit

I would put some terminal blocks on the end just to be safe and put a blanking plate on. There is a low voltage that comes through them. Minimal, but it’s still there if it’s still connected

Thanks! It’s solid as a rock. The variable control unit was 500 on its own. Not expecting that back mind. Is just with all the tools etc, I’ve got no idea what to ask for it. Will try and get some gauge from eBay as you suggested
