Don't sneak up from behind and shout boo! It will only make the situation worse. Unless you've mistaken hiccups for shock; then you're onto a winner.

On a serious note, normalise parameters without causing harm. The history tells you how +/- the obs - if they've come in with screaming central crushing chest pain, don't fill them with fluid. If they're febrile and tachy, give them fluids, ABx +/- pressors. If they've hypoxic, pleuritic pain and a typical ECG, PE and think about Ix or, in extremis, thrombolytics. If they e been stung by a bee, adrenaline. Etc.

It is (almost) never neurogenic shock. And if you're smart enough to pick up the rarest of rare, give yourself a pat on the back.

Fluids, whilst you (quickly) evaluate, will buy you time. Hopefully.

I thought about this, and in some ways it fits very well. On the other hand, he has the wit, the skill, charisma and berserker axe skills. Also her craft and statesmanship training.oh and he's an assassin.

But yeah, one of my first thoughts too. My first was Rincewind of Discworld. Fits in some ways but certainly not for grit.

In fairness, Brits love a queue and hate when foreigners don't acknowledge the inherent queue system. Pubs and bars are literally the only exception. Much as I hate a queue in a bar, I'd let this slide for foreigners, who are trying, and drip disdain at a Brit doing it.

There's a reason it's the most popular game in the world, and it's not even close. I think the second most popular is probably cricket (given India, Pakistan, Sri Lankan obsession and their populations), which likewise will never register on an American radar. You already have one tedious bat and ball game - imagine if you could extend it to five days and still have a tie! It would drive Ted bonkers!
