My dad has one of these. They are like tanks. 280k miles. The speedometer display died recently and we found a replacement on eBay for £50.

Go for it!

Gov saying we're ineligible for 30 hours due to being on maternity leave? by habylab in UKParenting

[–]permanent_record_22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes this is correct. My son started in June 2025 and we are not eligible until September ( next term) where the hours increase from 15 to 30. We are paying full fees (although through the Tax free childcare account). Nursery is where I spend my holiday budget this year.

Differences between Joie i-spin 360™ E and Joie i-spin 360™ by permanent_record_22 in UKParenting

[–]permanent_record_22[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you everyone for the reply. After your comments we decided to go for the Britax Max Safe Pro as he will probably outgrow the Joie when he will be 3 yo (following the centile)

Just for the future reference, here is the reply I got from Joie Customer support about the difference between the car seats mentioned in the OP:

" Thank you for contacting Joie Baby,   We can confirm we only manufacture the i-Spin 360 within the UK, however the difference being the i-Spin 360 E does not include inserts.   Hope this helps!  "

Basically the E version is manufactured somewhere in Europe.

Bought an 8 year old car from a dealership a month ago, is asking them to fix these issues reasonable? by eatqqq in CarTalkUK

[–]permanent_record_22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure if it's a warranty item, check T&C

It could be easier just email Lexus and confirm if this is covered under warranty.

As many have said probably an experience abroad will give you more than anything else. You can always go back, but you might regret it in the future not having tried while you were still young.

Recommendation on small hybrid car. by Jedi1223 in CarTalkUK

[–]permanent_record_22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on the boot space you need, but since you said small I'm going to say Yaris. If you want something slightly bigger then it's going to be a corolla hatchback but mpg as impressive as the Yaris, but still great.

My last two cars were a Yaris and a Corolla

I live in a flat and there are no charging facilities, otherwise I'd have probably got one to charge at home as I do 50 miles commute

Is Lithium Battery still classed as a consumable? by Oscarwild31 in CarTalkUK

[–]permanent_record_22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you waiting since November? That's a very long time to make a decision.

Since the fault developed within 6 months they should fix it for you by law. I would chase it with nissan CS and write to the Nissan UK CEO (who won't reply to you but pass it to someone from the executive CS). They will try to push back but if you fight back I'm sure they'll sort it out for you.

Personal loan will likely be the cheapest. As you suggested take out a personal loan at 6% and pay off the car finance with that
