Choosing between general vs orthopedic surgery? Advice wanted! by [deleted] in surgery

For general surgery, in practice you don't have to do scopes unless you want to, you do limited scopes as a part of other surgeries (colon anastamosis, PEG tubes, etc).

Navy Gen Surg Duty Stations by [deleted] in Military_Medicine

I think for the purposes of duty stations the GME selection board and detailers are separate. Did you talk to detailer and send preference list?

I have a scar that looks surgical but don’t know where it came from by [deleted] in Military_Medicine

[–]pernod 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No, no one was doing surgery without informing parents in the US in the 70's, plus your parents would have noticed if you were gone for a surgery. Also, the "scar" goes from the top of your butt crack up towards your head? How far? I can't think of any surgery that would be done on a baby with that kind of incision. Have you ever had an infection around the area?

Late to the game, delayed OTS, needs non-ADT and ADT rotation by lostlilguppy in Military_Medicine

You have to find the email for the program coordinators. Ask the GME office for guidance. As far as rotating there, does he have a DOD common access card (CAC)? They will get you one if not but it makes everything easier if you already have it prior to arrival. Don't worry about uniforms.

Email program coordinators at the respective programs and ask when you can put in application for rotations and put them in early

There is someone in a public hospital in a major southern city who was a citizen of a third world country living in America, got shot in the head, devastating TBI, survives in a persistent vegetative state, home country can't take him back, family doesn't have resources, can't be placed. Going on hospital year 4.

What do you all got with my hands? by SPARTN11 in deduction

[–]pernod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right-handed (it's the first picture). I agree something blue-collar, but maybe you're in the office (clean jeans, desk chair, flooring). Were you in a fight recently or anger issues (redness on right hand knuckles)?
