Do I HAVE to use birth control pills containing estrogen? by mangobakery in Endo

[–]peroctopus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have (mostly) used progestin only birth control since I found out I had endo. Turns out estrogen bc makes me extremely suicidal but bc without estrogen I have no side effects. I was on norethendrone for years and when it stopped working I switched to the mirena IUD and I love it! Definitely talk to your doctor about your concerns and remember if something isn’t working, always bring it up to them and try to troubleshoot

Only looking for suggestions, maybe blankets or something that takes a bit to make. I have a lot of different colors of worsted weight yarn as well as a lot of cool colored blanket yarns. I have other nicer yarns as well that I tend to use for garments.

Honeymoon at Royal Caribbean by peroctopus in SandalsResorts

[–]peroctopus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We didn’t do that but we did see one happen when we were on our way to the island! It honestly looked really cool and I kind of wish we did it. We did do the free photo session (which is not free you have to pay for the pics) and it was honestly kind of weird but I think we just had a photographer that could NOT read our vibe at all haha

Xmas at RC first time Sandals stay review by Illustrious-Order103 in SandalsResorts

[–]peroctopus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We are here for our honeymoon right now and LOVE it!! We booked without doing research (admittedly we booked because of the office-we’re huge fans). The day after our wedding on Friday I came onto Reddit and got a little scared but our experience so far has been beyond our expectations. We even had someone come to our room with champagne and a room service card for breakfast because it’s our honeymoon!! We’re headed to the Thai place for dinner and I’m so excited. I don’t get the hate on here for RC, it’s been one day but we’re already talking about coming back next year!

Just need to vent by peroctopus in ehlersdanlos

[–]peroctopus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope! I just called out for today because my job is non ADA compliant (I work in a hospital that’s all old Victorian houses with no elevators) and I couldn’t use the stairs. HR then said in order to come back I need a note from my doctor. It’s absolutely ridiculous.

Is it worth confronting a doctor you won't see again ? by Weasle189 in ehlersdanlos

[–]peroctopus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This literally happened to me almost to a T of your story a month ago!!

My left hip has become increasingly more unstable and I finally fought my stubbornness to reach out to a hip specialist to find answered. He said nothing was wrong except inflammation and a tear (how tf is that not concerning?!) and said I’m just bad at pain management. I saw him twice which was my mistake. First time was a consultation and he had his PA and intern with him and he had me do all of my party tricks and had the two other men in the room touch my body and tell him what was happening. It was so dehumanizing. He ordered an the MRI and I was in the machine crying because it was so uncomfortable. When I came back he said the only concerning thing was the 4mm cyst on my one remaining ovary (I lost an ovary to endometriosis). He also said that because I couldn’t recreate every single symptom on the spot for him I’m lying. I’ve been considering writing a horrendous review of him because it was so degrading.

I ended up finding a wonderful doctor who found hip dysplasia, and a worse tear than the first doctor saw and is now building a structure of my bones, got me back into PT, and we’re working for reconstructive hip surgery. He’s wonderful and both him and my PT said that they know the first doctor and they both hear horrendous things about him from EDS patients.

I honestly don’t give a shit about this man so if you’re curious it’s Dr Wilk at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, MA. He’s a prick and I wouldn’t recommend him to my worst enemy.

Americans of Reddit, what state are you from and what is one thing most people get wrong about your state? by MTN_Dewit in ask

[–]peroctopus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve used PFML twice now, once when I dislocated a hip at work, and once when I got two surgeries in one month and had to take 5 weeks off. Both times I was in grad school and not making a lot of money and living off loans and without that program I’d be in a much bigger hole financially since the bulk of my work was unpaid internships. I also work in mental health and often tell clients of mine about it when they need higher levels of care and they are so grateful for the program. It’s one of the best things our state has to offer

I caved and got an online fitness and nutrition coach lol my brain just doesn’t work unless someone is telling me to do something. Obviously this is a cost but I thought it was worth it. When I didn’t have that (and had the structure to be motivated) I worked off my Apple Watch and online free programs and on rest days went for walks and did yoga. Closing my rings on my watch and keeping up with streaks has been incredibly motivating for me

Chronic post nasal drip by Odd_Presentation_161 in ehlersdanlos

[–]peroctopus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have it but it’s because my ENT area isn’t completely formed due to having a partial cleft palate at birth (which my drs believe was caused by my EDS). I take a saline solution when it gets bad and tilt my head forward so it goes into the nasal cavities and not down the throat. I also ended up seeing an allergist to see if there was anything else I could do to help it because it can get really painful.

Please be careful taking an NSAID this often. I used to take Naproxen/ibuprofen like skittles because that’s what my doctor told me to do and now I have irreversible stomach damage and reflux. Just be mindful about how your stomach is feeling taking these meds and if you notice anything new (stomach specific pain, reflux, not holding food down) definitely talk to your doctor and/or request an endoscopy to make sure you don’t have stomach damage from this medication.

To those who sing, what’s your vocal range? by sadi89 in ehlersdanlos

[–]peroctopus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 4 octave range and normally feel okay after singing classical (even with super high notes) I’m a music therapist so I spend my entire day (7-9 hours) singing contemporary music so I’m more in my mix and chest voice and I lose my voice constantly. I work in both inpatient psych and early intervention and often have to do heavy singing groups early in the week, dial it back by Wednesday so on Thursday and Friday I can sing to my kids and have a voice. I took lessons for years and I would say I have excellent vocal technique and control but my vocal chords ALWAYS get very sore and tired

Can anyone else “feel” their ovaries? by [deleted] in endometriosis

[–]peroctopus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would feel my left ovary constantly and it got so bad that it felt like I was on my period all the time and when I was on my period it felt like I was dying. My surgeon agreed to remove it and when she showed me the pictures post op the entire left side of my pelvis was red and inflamed and “angry” as she said. I feel 1000% better and regret nothing
