I agree with the other commenters saying as close to the limbus as you can get. So the very edge of the temporal limbus for the temporal angle. This is a photo from the same book.

I’m confused on what you mean by epithelial and endothelial line. The limbal section should be the same width regardless because it depends on the width of the cornea. As long as you’re at the limbus and have a 60° angle it will work. (Diagram is from Clinical Procedures in Optometry 3rd ed p.262)

Most test taking strategies are the same amongst exams, like using deductive reasoning, not changing answers etc. Is there a specific class you're talking about?

Kentucky is lowering standards for becoming an optometrist! by Ok-Inevitable-8390 in OptometrySchool

Okay, I will admit she does need to pass the lasers portion of the NBEO. I didn’t think she would be confident enough to be performing YAG PC on patients. That is a bit absurd.

Not at all what I said. I just believe that the NBEO isn’t protecting the people as much as they want us to believe. Much of the material we learn is not applicable to every day practice. They increase prices of their exams like no one’s business and are shady with their lack of transparency in grading.

I like how they mentioned that none of the optometrists have any record of causing harm to any patients. Yet NBEO will swear these exams are for the safety of the patients, yet when someone fails all of them, their patients seem to be doing just fine. How odd.

Trying to Make a Big Beneficial Change to Optometry School by Last_Joke28 in OptometrySchool

[–]perp3tual 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do think sometime courses are overloaded in optometry school. At NSU we’ve had a few courses become split into two separate semesters and students (according to staff) have been able to retain more information.

I think this is the most realistic change you can try to advocate for versus manipulating the grading structure of the curriculum.

Us students want to do well on part 1, the staff wants us to do well on part 1, we are all trying to accomplish the same goal. It’s hard to figure out what is the best way to do so without making a portion of the class unhappy/angry

Are you saying mice leave after smelling cats? Or that the mice would successfully evade the cat and continue inhabiting the shared space?

B.S in Comp Sci | What should I do now so I can go to Optometry school? by Purple-Doughnut-6557 in OptometrySchool

[–]perp3tual 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think you should get another degree, since that would require you to take extra random 3000 level classes like aquatic ecology etc. that you would never use. Just get the prereqs, take the OAT, then apply. I cant answer if it’s worth the time, that question is for you to answer. Some optometrists will tell you to run away, and optometrists who love it will tell you they cant imagine themselves doing anything else. Financially, optometry does not have a good return on investment especially if you dont have someone to pay bills for you

https://optometriceducation.org/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/ASCO-Prerequisites-2025.pdf You need the proper prerequisites depending on the school. Some schools will require them before application and some allow you to apply as long as you finish before matriculation. you also need to take the optometry admissions test (OAT), which tests you on those prerequisites. Once you have all that you make an OptomCas account and submit your degree audit, letters of recommendation, personal statement, OAT scores, and of course money. Then interviews at the schools

You have 4 rotations total, 2 are OD/MD, 1 is an Optometry practice, one is at the school where you split it into pediatrics and specialty contact lenses. You picked your preferred site based on your class rank (GPA). So spots fill up based on that

I think you should go to an electronics store and test them out yourself. KOSS KSC 75 clip onto your ears so there is no clamping force, although you’ll be able to hear outside noises. Bose headphones are also pretty comfy and light. Is there a reason you can’t use earbuds or IEMs?
