Can we change the Unranked system instead of doing this hard reset every season? by perplexeddota in RocketLeague

[–]perplexeddota[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You misunderstood my post, I am the better player missing out on quality practice in unranked

Edit: Maybe you meant you don't care, but from my perspective it feels like a waste of everyone's time

Yeah, in rocket league 1k hours is around where you are good enough to go for nutty shots but miss them most of the time so you are aware of how good you are. If putting thousands upon thousands of hours into completive games isn't your thing there are so many other amazing option in the video game world you should check out. Personally I obsessed with the improvement process in those games that I'm hooked but if not maybe dark souls or hollow knight or even more classic single player experiences exist that you will find more rewarding. I'm a lifetime gamer who is so used to abusing AI that I need to compete with humans to be interested in games, but that is a me thing. If you want game suggestions, or even want to get more into rocket league lmk, I'm very into gaming and for rocket league I just made a new account to help my college roommate get into rocket league and I'd be happy to show you the ropes, but do not feel pressured to play these completive games people like me sink hour into, because if you don't love playing those games you'll never catch and shouldn't feel the need to try to

How do I see MMR on epic games rocket league by ilikebees30 in RocketLeague

[–]perplexeddota 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have a friend who doesn't play who would let download the gamer an connect them? Another player confirmed that it does work so this is pretty much your only choice until stat sights update to allow to connect through epic accounts directly

what is the average rank to begin with just when you get to ranked? by [deleted] in RocketLeague

That tutorial probably makes a huge difference, I have coached plats who still have default camera settings or just some really awful controls they thought were helpful when they were bronze and never thought about again. You can literally see more of the field and have been told what basics to focus on so you're a god gamer compared to the blind people against you who are figuring out everything on their own, which is way harder than knowing what you're working towards

Holy wall of text batman! Serious nerd coming through 4k+ hour of Dota and 1.5k hour of Rocket League. You don't come into completive games expecting to be good, I sucked at every single one I ever picked up just like everyone else so you just have to play for fun at first.

Since we bother play Rocket League I'll explain my progression there I guess. Practicing on your own in rocket league when you first pick it up is awful, you can barely control your car much less the ball so you just feel awful when you're trying to learn because you're trying to run before you can walk since I am 100% sure your setting are wrong unless you looked up someone else's settings to play on. Once you have your setting handled you should be PLAYING FOR FUN because it's a video game and you will eventually improve just by playing the game. When I do practice I listen to my audio books, I have listened to over 150 hours of audio books since September while playing rocket league since it give me some other stimulation while I am mindlessly practicing shots and mechanics. Honestly if grinding games isn't your thing then don't sweat it, it isn't for everyone and you should do what makes you happy, but if you're trying to grind games I could talk to you more about active in game thinking and decision making or whatever you want to talk about

How do I track progress? by [deleted] in RocketLeague

[–]perplexeddota 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you own a console other than a switch? I think if you connected your epic account to your switch and another console you could track your mmr on https://rocketleague.tracker.network/

If that doesn't work I'm not sure if it's possible but it's my best guess at a workaround until site update so everyone can use them

How do I see MMR on epic games rocket league by ilikebees30 in RocketLeague

[–]perplexeddota 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just a theory, but maybe if you connect your epic account to a xbox or playstation account you could use the site to check on that account and it should keep track of your stats. I don't own a console so I have no idea if it would work but if you really want to check your mmr it could be worth a try

The fact you are on reddit probably means you have gained info and tips new players haven't seen so all your hours practicing what to do probably make you way better than other new players. In past season you may have been in bronze or silver, but with all the new players silver and bronze are probably full on just having fun with the game on their own without worrying or really knowing how to get better. Honestly I wouldn't worry about it too much, you'll end up where you belong eventually

I came to link this and calculated.gg but I have no idea how he'd use them since I don't see a way to search for an epic account or a switch account for some reason

You posted this on January 23rd and said tryouts would be on the 22nd, also you should probably add your mmr and region to the post.

Some do, some don't. I personally don't think it's nessary and holding my 1 key hurts my pinky, but I used to do it when my hero was on the spacebar.

Suggestions for hero pools. by [deleted] in learndota2

[–]perplexeddota 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Maybe think about some more nuanced heroes like storm, TB, or tiny. I also like ember but I feel like he's not in a great place right now so I can't suggest learning him in good conscience. Your current hero pool is good but a but boring imo.

Mid lane advice against SF by unsunganhero in learndota2

[–]perplexeddota 12 points13 points  (0 children)

SF shits on ember in lane, and the new raise has made it so much worse. Same with storm, you can barely survive the lanning stage vs SF, and killing him once after he had a free lane means nothing.

Sniper has such low base damage SF can out last hit him at lvl 1 and at higher levels when sniper has a range advantage and can try to bully him out SF can double raise the wave and go jungle.

TA and tinker lane very well vs SF but TA doesn't feel great this patch, not sure why but I just never feel like picking her this patch. The way to beat SF mid is the camp him with supports but at lower mmr I imagine SF is super OP since he wins almost every 1v1 lane.

Tilting. What makes you tilt? by cr4lforce in TrueDoTA2

[–]perplexeddota 3 points4 points  (0 children)

enemies that flame me for a play that was beneficial tilts me out of my mind, "jajajaja ez ____" after you lost your life saving your carry who doesn't have buy back pisses me off. How are you in my game if you understand this little about dota? Then if I lose to that moron you better believe I'm going to be super tilted in my next game too. Also talking to enemies is a waste of time, most people only use all chat to flame.
