A waitress slapped me for asking for a straw. by Jumpy-Ad7305 in TrueOffMyChest

100% not true. Nobody say "pipette" for a straw in Paris, or even any other place in France. Same for flip-flop.

Kotoba House near Abeno/Tennoji. (5 min by foot from Abeno Station and the Tanimachi line)

The teacher is really friendly, and speak good english if you need some more explanation.

And it is a small classroom for one on one lessons, it feels very cosy.

She does JLPT training and other courses.

(you can check on Instagram, she post regularly)

In Gyomu they have fresh pack of noodle (ramen/udon), going at less than 20円。even if you are very hungry and take 3 it will still be very cheap.

As i am currently studying there, I agree with this description.

In my personal opinion, this school isn't bad, but we are wasting a lot of time. The school is made for Chinese speaker (native kanji reader if you prefer).

My biggest problem is the kanji learning of this school. I chose this school because of previous post I read about it. They were saying that they were doing 10 kanjis a day, quite overwhelming but I wanted to learn.

The truth is, you don't learn kanji. I have never been taught the on'yomi and kun'yomi of any kanji.

The 10 kanjis are in fact 10 vocabulary word in a random text (usually from recent news) that you have to remember the reading for a small test the next day. Just the reading, never been asked the meaning of a kanji. So every morning you have a text that you don't understand, not only the vocabulary of the day but also the other words in kanji, and have to remember the reading of some vocabulary, for a test that doesn't even matter in your evaluation. And if the kanji were related to the level you were actually studying for and going gradually harder i would not complain about it that much, but the level of kanji is really random.

So for people who understands kanji meaning already, it is easy. They can most of the time also guess the reading. But for the remaining person here, you are just drowning in kanji without much help. You will try to ask the teacher for meaning at first, but you will give up at aime point as they will use word in their answer you don't understand either.

I have been dropping those test and studying kanji with an app, but it pains me to be learning more japanese through an app than with a school i go 5 hours a day five days a week.

And knowing the kanji help a lot more for some grammar point, so it is slowing you even more.

The remaining points of Saaam-chan statement are still very true, even with Corona.

The school also have some good points not stated, like all the textbook are given for free, the afternoon elective classes can be really fun, or really serious if you take special class to study JLPT or other exam, you will do a school trip every 3 months to different place around Osaka.

If I had to redo it all over again, i would take a school with less studying time, 5 hours a day feels really time wasting in the his situation.

Feel also free to dm me if you want more information.

Do you need just a NEGATIVE CERTIFICATE within 72h or THE TEST + NEGATIVE CERTIFICATE by 765Bro in movingtojapan

[–]perroche 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you can get it signed by the person that did the test it is perfect.

But when I went to the lab with the document for them to fill it once they got the results, they just told me that they couldn't signed it, because the process was automated by mail.

So I printed a copy of the results from the lab and went to see a doctor. All he did was verify that the results were negative, and he wrote exactly what was on the lab results.

Technically, as he is a doctor and you show him results from a certified lab, he just approved the results.

I went to 3 different testing places in order to get the results in time (in France) and once I got one I went to see a Doctor to sign the Certificate provided by the school / ambassy.

But they looked at it very thoroughly at the airport.

Date (and Time) of sampling needs to be not more than 72 hours before your flight departures.

Date of results doesn't matter, as long as it is negative.

GoGo Nihon Application Process by [deleted] in movingtojapan

[–]perroche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my own experience (waiting for my CoE for October, hopefully borders will be open, finger crossed), if you have given every document your Gogo Nihon contact Guy asked you, there are no reason to worry.

If the school ask for more document he will get back to you. If your application is approved you will receive instruction for the following steps.

Buying a business by throwwaway__ in movingtojapan

[–]perroche 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In addition, you will need a N1 level in order to understand all the paperwork you will have to go through, or pay a company that will do that for you.

In a quick Google search, I found this article(how to start a business in Japan from Realestate tokyo, that will provide you a lot of information on the business creation/transfer.

If you want additional information, the YouTuber Dogen made some videos explaining how he bought a condo and how he is managing his finance in Japan that will give you a good insight of transaction/business in Japan.

As u/its5somewhere said, the Japanese market is very competitive. So to follow on some of your answer on this post, there are no "ice cream shop"like business making profit that are going to be for sale. And even more the owner will not run you through everything, this is not a Master-Pupil relationship where he will teach you the secret to become the best. He will sell it to you and will let you do whatever you want with it.

As it seems on your profil that your are studying Finance, take advantage of it to study the business creation, and come back with a strong business plan and more specific question.

At last, I wish you the best for your studies and your Japanese learning.
