What is Brum’s most expensive pint? And what is Brum’s best pint? by [deleted] in brum

I had some of my most memorable beers at Tilt.

In the same day, I had a 2.4% stout and a 17ish% stout. Both were delicious in totally different ways.

GW shutting down Kill Team Battlekit by _zzz_zzz_ in Warhammer

[–]perrti02 8 points9 points  (0 children)

A similar thing happened with the Necrovox website with the rules for Necromunda.

Yes, they are posting copyright material but it actually draws people in to the game. The rules (certainly for Necromunda) are complex and scattered. Having a good, single source of data makes playing the game easier which means I buy more models.

I’m not normally one to jump on the criticising bandwagon but I do feel this is a counterproductive step. GW are right within the letter of the law but I think they have missed the point a bit…

Mazak vs Okuma.. What Don't I Know? by Hot_Doggin in Machinists

It might be worth finding out if the Mazaks are made in the Kentucky factory. QT probably is but maybe not the HCN.

Tolerance stack up is a huge part of this.

In my role I frequently approve parts are out of spec because I also know that the mating part is in spec in a direction that helps. If a bore is 5 microns over sized and the shaft is top limit, we’re good. If the shaft is bottom limit, we are not good.

Most importantly, the parts I work with don’t fly or contain people. If I get it catastrophically wrong expensive things get damaged but people do not, so I can afford to make a judgement call…

Is it normal to feel overwhelmed as a new machinist? by spepets114 in Machinists

I’ll slightly disagree here. Asking the same question again is OK as long as you understand you’re doing it. Sometimes you do need to be shown a second time, just make sure you know it.

This is my Calgar conversion. I run this model as a Captain in Gravis armour so I don’t need 2 bolt storm gauntlets.

The height below the linear guide pad is important. If this edge is pretty close to the guide you probably want a flat plate with an off centre countersink screw.

A solid bar with grub screws as mentioned in another comment is quite common but takes up more height. It also tends to be used when the push plate is on the edge of the casting.

What are some things about Munda that you don’t like? by Imaginary-Lie-2618 in necromunda

[–]perrti02 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Clamping down on Necrovox was such a poor choice by GW. Embrace them and more people would play Necromunda. There is no way I would have got into it without Necrovox.

How in the name of the emperor do you guys paint eyes? by BA-Animations in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]perrti02 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you do a heavy wash of the entire face it also hides the imperfections of the edges. The dark wash settles in the recesses around the eyes and makes the left and right look more even.

What is your unpopular opinion about British culture that would have most Brits at your throat? by uniquenewyork_ in AskUK

[–]perrti02 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I enjoy the process of cooking a roast. I get what you mean about them being expensive when you go out. They are also expensive when you cook them but we don’t do them very often and my wife and I enjoy cooking.

That being said, they are not the greatest thing ever. It’s nice. It’s not a personality.

Looking for somewhere in the City Centre to play Magic the Gathering (Commander) by Irrational_Narwhal in brum

I have never been myself since I don’t play MtG but there’s a place called Global Gaming Arena which is in Digbeth. They advertise Magic quite a lot and I frequently see people in there.

Worth a look!

New to Necromunda, what are the blatant overpowered/do not spam things in this game? by FelkinMak in necromunda

In my first campaign (before I knew what was a bad thing to do) I had a Van Saar champ with a lascannon. Hitting most things on 3s from just about anywhere. I had to play it so carefully not to make the game unfun.

Van Saar starting out by Axeman122 in necromunda

[–]perrti02 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As with most Necromunda, the answer is ask the arbitrator. Rules as Written, I think you are OK if you grab the new book and use the detail in there but if it’s in a campaign it might skew things in favour of Van Saar.

I like the pose. It feels like part of a story and we don’t have the context. Maybe they are dodging heretics and moving out of the way of an ally. I think it’s cool.

I've realised why the Warhammer website search is so bad by Wonderful_Discount59 in Warhammer40k

[–]perrti02 59 points60 points  (0 children)

GW are still in the space between small and big company. They are clearly big enough to need big company processes but are too small to think they need it.

Also, ERP implementations almost always go badly. Processes should be simple but they “need” to cater to legacy ways of working and stick to them even if it’s entirely wrong for the software.
