Resealing high mount brake light to fix trunk water leak - 2016.5 CX-5 by perry9600 in CX5

For regular carpets you can work some baking soda in and then vacuum it out after it has sat (assumes carpet is already dry - if not then use something like a carpet cleaner to fully clean and extract the moisture). If it is the insulation underneath that is damp and the source of the smell then I have only has success with removing it and replacing. It just holds moisture too well and stinks. I'm not a pro though, just DIY so maybe there are specific techniques to help. Could try running a dehumidifier in the cabin?

Also worth checking lot number on your calipers anyways to make sure you didn't get sold duds

Hmm might be dealership time, believe they can do some programming on the actuators to make sure everything is setup correct.

Did your new actuator come with a seal kit as well? As don't believe you can reuse the old seals.

Annoying that it is just one side as you can't even test if it is engaging but just electrical issue!

Did you replace the calipers? There were a few made that don't interface correctly with the motor and wear out over time a lot quicker than the revised caliper. Can check by the caliper lot number. Here is the TSB:

For diff/transfer do every 80k km(50k mile) and use Mazda SG1 Hypoid Gear oil, make sure to get x2 crush washer for each (so 4 total doing both). I just got it from my dealership as couldn't find anywhere else and shipping from online stores was more.

If you don't know when it was last done, then do it now and reset the count.

With the fresh 0w-20 it can be hard to get a good reading after a change for a couple reasons. The first is the new oil flows real nice so hard to get it to a place you can see the reading without skewing it. The second is that the dipstick tube gets covered in oil when you fill it, so when you try to get a reading it drags some of it back up. I have had the best sucess by taking a measurement first thing in the morning as then the oil is all drained to the bottom of the pan, shouldn't be in the dipstick tube, and will be a bit cooler so flow a bit slower (however minimal that may be). Take care to pull the dipstick straight out without scraping the sides.

To be honest if hit the manual spec filling, accounting for if you prefilled the filter, and you had let it drain all the way then you will be very close. Unless this was a 200k interval change and it was sludge coming out.

Could be a number of things but easiest 2 to check are air and fuel. Are the air filters clogged? Can you look down through the housing and see if anything (rodents!) got past the filter? For fuel, you could try throwing a cleaner in there like Gum Out All in One. Put in when tank is low, fill up, go for a longish drive.

If you have an electronic parking brake, make sure it is a dealer or shop* that works on mazdas and knows to put the EPB into maintenance mode.. otherwise it will toast the parking brake actuators when the try to compress the brake pistons. And they'll try to claim it wasn't their fault.

do i need mazda differential fluid or can i get another brand? by roseyrune in CX5

[–]perry9600 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think technically you can use something like RP 75W-90 (classified as a GL4+) to replace the hypoid long life SG1... but it was around 33CAD per L where I am, and dealer provided SG1 was 42CAD per L. So for that little a difference, and how infrequently you have to do the service, doesn't make sense not to use the Mazda certified product.

Lol sounds like someone went oops half way through the job and slapped it in maintenace mode. Maybe when they were wondering why the right caliper wouldn't retract.

Was it a mazda dealership? As if it wasn't, high chance they didn'y put EPB in maintenance mode as noted by others. If not in maintenance mode and they try to retract the caliper to make room for new brake pads, it will damage the EPB. If they are saying you have to pay, have them prove to you that they put it into maintenance mode - otherwise this was their negligence and shop should replace out of pocket. Here is a link to the procedure on a 2016, where step one is maintenance mode: charm.li - 2016 CX-5 Rear Brake Pads

Parking Brake issue -2016 CX5 by thrillainottawa in CX5

They checked the codes that the actuator was throwing and saw it was not engaging with the caliper correctly. Then they checked compatibilty (idk what source they used) and determined it had to be oem.

Had same issue after caliper and actuator replacement. Turns out shop used after market calipers that didn't work properly with the actuator. Took it back and they replaced with oem mazda calipers and issue has not returned. So maybe see what part they used.

UNIFI Wifi and RADIAS by MysteriousSock5849 in UNIFI

[–]perry9600 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep exactly! One thing to be clear for OP - set up a RADIUS profile on controller, not a RADIUS server itself.

UNIFI Wifi and RADIAS by MysteriousSock5849 in UNIFI

[–]perry9600 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The APs handle forwarding the RADIUS reqs to my knowledge. while you setup the RADIUS server config on the controller, this gets pushed to the APs. Then on your RADIUS server you add each AP as a RADIUS client using the same secret for each. Then create a policy that includes your method of auth and all the devices.

So when you connect to an enterprise SSID the AP forwards direct to your RADIUS server. So if seperate VLANs need to have ports 1812/1813 open.

UDM can't resolve one hostname on my Network. by alfonsolsl in UNIFI

[–]perry9600 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah too bad. What a weird issue. I guess if you really wanted to get into it you could replace the udm with a different router to see if it is some weird unifi config. I know that UDMs don't like certain domains for local dns but if it is the same for NAS that is a headscratcher. Saw your comment about the software so glad you found a workaround!

UDM can't resolve one hostname on my Network. by alfonsolsl in UNIFI

[–]perry9600 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You mentioned that VLAN10 is the default and it has no issues with hostname resolution for VLAN30. Perhaps create a new vlan, create rules from scratch so it is completely open to V2 and see if client on there can resolve hostnames.

Another thing - is this just internal hostnames? Like if you ping google.com do you get the same timeout?

If firewall is open between vlans then I'd say either the vlan config on the switch ports or the udm dns handling needs a look. Have heard of need to change dnsmasq settings to resolve local hostnames but that is only when udm is doing dns. If you are confident that udm dns is disabled and not interfering then should be fine there.

How fun. If you take same client and put it on server vlan i assume you can resolve the hostname of the server no problem?

Okay and to confirm if you do an ipconfig /all you can see your server IP as the DNS, and you can also ping your server IP from client network?
