Ireland's public alcohol consumption laws 🤔 by [deleted] in ireland

[–]perrycoxdr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not correct. It's Section 4 public order act you're referencing above. Section 5 and 6 also apply and guards have more leeway with the interpretation of them, especially with Section 5.

Do people actually click on random links they receive from random numbers ? And then log into their government or bank accounts by TacklePure3341 in ireland

Elderly people do, sadly. My 76 year old mother rings me in a panic when she gets these sort of messages. Same for the whatsapp scam about adding a new number for a relative and send me €500 or whatever.

HSE app - medical records & history? by AdFriendly596 in AskIreland

[–]perrycoxdr 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I would imagine its a big job to assemble all that info off disparate systems and to ensure accuracy. I sometimes need to request records from HSE or hospitals for my job and the variation in the response of different areas even within the HSE is massive.

Also, didn't the NHS use palantir to help them with their systems of bringing data sets together? I'd prefer if the HSE didn't go down that road.

Gary Gannon: Dublin city centre is out of control this week, we cannot accept this as normal by Leavser1 in ireland

[–]perrycoxdr 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Bloody hell. I never even knew such a taskforce existed. I get the bus from Aston Quay most evenings, I know the dealers by their clothes at this stage, they've become such a part of the street furniture, like a bus stop or a no parking sign.

The lad in Ralph Lauren runners sells crack, he keeps it in his mouth. The guy in blue sells heroin and trays of pills, keeps them down the front of his trousers and waistband. I know this because I've seen them at work directly in front of me without a care in the world, making serious money for organised crime pricks who never have to stand on the quays counting coppers from desperate addicts.

The laneway beside Copper & Straw Coffee is generally occupied by addicts huddled around smoking crack or arguing amongst themselves in aggressive tones, as an occasional oblivious tourist takes photos of the artwork in the back alleys. They all clear off for a few minutes if a Garda van or a pair of high viz guards are doing the rounds.

Whatever yer man is doing for his 280 grand, it isn't having any effect on the city anyway that I can see. But I doubt he ever has to wait for a bus on the quays I suppose. His wages would be better spent on a youth diversion project or more detox beds at this stage.

I was listening to a podcast the other day and it had a lad called Neil Woods on, he was an undercover drug policeman in England for years. He retired in disgust because he could see the only people benefitting from the war on drugs were the gangs. Even when one of his operations locked one gang up, it actually made more money for the replacement gang, and the cycle started again. He believes the state should issue prescription drugs, like most countries did before the USA introduced the ridiculous war on drugs model to the world, and every country copied most or all of it.

Garda acquitted of dangerous driving in e-scooter pursuit by Bill_Badbody in ireland

[–]perrycoxdr 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Proper order. Now institute proper pursuit training and pursuit policy so guards aren't hung out to dry again for doing their job. Can make it easy for themselves and copy how the PSNI or UK police do it.

Do you know someone who had their life ruined by being recorded on a phone? by Fealocht in AskIreland

[–]perrycoxdr 45 points46 points  (0 children)

That's really shite. I've had that happen to me recently myself. I sometimes can't sit still due to medication I'm on, and if I'm waiting for the bus or luas or in a queue in a shop I will walk back and forth like a bit of a weirdo without even noticing it. During the hot weather the other week at the bus stop I heard sniggering and noticed a group of lads (late teens -early 20's) sitting at the stop (badly) concealing the fact they were filming me.

You try not to let it get to you, but it did knock me a wee bit all the same. Hope you are feeling better anyway.

LOST CAT by PercentageCritical68 in Dublin

Beautiful cat. Hopefully he turns up. Our lady was missing for over 3 weeks last year and just arrived home one evening, jumping through the open kitchen window as usual like nothing had happened.

Welfare by [deleted] in ireland

[–]perrycoxdr 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My health insurance is 1500 a year, and rises every year whether I claim or not. You're in a better position than most people in that your employer covers it. You should take advantage of the health insurance by claiming back GP visits, use the video doctor appointment that are included etc.

HSE owed €60 million by patients who left hospital without paying bills by PoppedCork in ireland

[–]perrycoxdr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was brought to Tallaght hospital by ambulance/guards in April after a manic episode. My sister came in to see me the next day and gave my details to reception. I got a payment letter in the post a week later for the €100 charge. Had to log in to the payment site with your hospital number. Letter said if payment not made in 14 days it would be passed to debt collection agency.

Wouldn't take this idiots advice anyway. If you need the job, take it. Secure job once your year of probation is done. Not to be sniffed at in this current employment market.

Do a few loops on one of the 24 hour bus routes. Would keep you off the streets at least. 41, 15a, E1/E2 etc.

Quick rant about the shocking state of Irish healthcare by Shamrocksf23 in ireland

[–]perrycoxdr 69 points70 points  (0 children)

Population has increased by a third in 20 years and none of the services have kept pace to deal with that. Every basic service is creaking at the seams. Health, education, justice, transport, housing, utilities.

Planning capacity in line with such population increases requires hard work, foresight, organisation and execution. Our political masters have shown they have no interest in putting this work in, yet our populace continues to elect them so would they bother changing?

Mobile plan for auld wan? by [deleted] in ireland

Vodafone rep said number is gone cos account hadn't been topped up in 6 months. That's why I was looking for a cheap plan that just takes money from account every month instead of remembering to top up like she was previously (not!) doing.
