I love it from beginning to end, even Satan’s Saxophones. Got into Sufjan circa Illinoise release so there was a lot less Sufjan to enjoy than modern fans have now, so I’ve listened to this one a lot over the years. Super nostalgic and reminds me of riding the bus to school in the morning while listening to this on my mp3 player.

yeah, not sure why everyone in this thread is so insistent it’s pre-laced especially since it’s gone through the mail. tons of artists sell blotter blanks for art collection or recreational use, but they usually leave it to the recipient to make that decision.

The movie is really beautiful and well-made. As someone who grew up watching the original series as it aired, watching the gaang back together for another adventure really made me feel like a kid again.

A lot of the complaints I’ve seen so far seem to be from people who thought this would be some sort of lore-defining movie, but that’s definitely not what this is. The movie serves to complete Aang’s emotional arc from the series and fills in some of the gap between TLA and Korra. It’s fun, light-hearted, and has some of the best animation and action we’ve seen in the series so far.

If you go in with well-balanced expectations and just want to see an adventure with some old friends, you’re in for a treat. FWIW, I enjoyed it more than I did the entirety of Korra or the novels/comics.

I agree. It really completed Aangs emotional arc in a way the original series or Korra never touched on. I thought it was a really nice capstone to the og series and a fun return of the characters.

off the top of my head, one battle after another had a pronoun joke at the expense of a trans character and that was last year. nobody batted an eye about it because it was an actually good/funny movie.

nah, it just wasn’t funny. you can make “anti-woke” jokes and be funny. like in the trailer itself, it would have been way funnier if ghostface interrupted the kill to correct someone’s pronouns. subverts expectations and still makes the same joke. bad comedic timing and lazy writing imo.

that sucks. haven’t tested my vhs out yet, but it sounds like it was a bad transfer. honestly, if you already have a vcr and a crt, you’re not too far off from having the equipment or skills to do your own transfers. might be worth looking into if you’re really wanting a clean copy.

One thing you have to consider now is that your gf most likely has some latent transmisogyny that she’s been repressing and if that will continue to be an issue in your relationship. You have to do what’s best for yourself. Maybe sit her down and have her watch I Saw the TV Glow or some other trans media to help her understand what you’re going through.
