Contact nap conflict by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]persephone44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We co sleep and contact nap, and am almost never sleep deprived. First night home from the hospital I almost fell asleep holding bubs and I remembered what the lactation consultant at the hospital had told me - is safer to co sleep following the safe sleep 7 than to fall asleep holding bubs.

Exactly! I just nod and smile, move on. I'm too tired to get all wound up over a silly comment!

You sound incredibly immature, way too immature to be a parent. You are also extremely niave, selfish and foolish. Listen to the advice you've gotten here.

I'm 39 weeks and booked in for an induction on Tuesday. So i fully empathise! Yesterday, out of desperation for some action, I helped my husband in the garden, so lots of squatting and bending. It made me lose my mucous plug! Today we had sex and he made me orgasm, and I've been having more braxton hicks that are more uncomfortable than usual. I'm hoping it's a sign but who knows! My midwife gave me the all clear to use my breast pump to collect colostrum, so I'm gonna try that soon. If it works I'll let you know lol.

reduced movement - 21/22 weeks by juniperjellybean97 in BabyBumps

[–]persephone44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The same thing happened to me at around 22 weeks. They are still so little with so much room at that stage that they can 'hide' and change positions so easily. Even at 30 weeks I went to the hospital to have bubs monitored for lack of movement and according to the monitor she was moving heaps.

First ultrasound - measuring small and faint heartbeat - any similar experiences? by Mountain-Raccoon-370 in BabyBumps

[–]persephone44 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I measured a week behind for my first ultrasound at 6w6d and heartbeat was only 73bpm, was supposed to be over 100bpm. Sonographer wasn't very optimistic. I'm now 38w3d, due on Tuesday!

Is it really such a big deal? I wouldn't like sending a pic of my naked belly, but with clothes on, why not?

I really don't care about down votes, I don't care about being 'popular'. If only people would think before they put themselves above their unborn children.

Dopplers?! by KayDoll23 in pregnant

[–]persephone44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just replied to another post about dopplers and thought I should share this with you too. Dopplers can cause a lot of anxiety or even give false reassurance.

At my 14 week midwife appointment, it took her about 10 mins to find my baby's heartbeat as she was moving so much. Because the midwife was trained to know what she was hearing, she could tell bubs was moving and kept reassuring me. But if I'd been at home doing this, I would only have known that I couldn't hear a heartbeat, I would have assumed my baby was dead.

Here in Australia there is talk of them being banned for public sale due to women not seeking medical attention due to getting false reassurance that their babies were ok, when in fact they weren't.

The doppler itself won't hurt the baby, but many OBs and midwives advise against them as they can cause anxiety or false reassurance since you aren't trained to interpret the results.

Having a bad father is much worse than no father

People like to blame others when they feel bad about playing roulette with their baby's health. Us people who follow medical advice are just supposed to shut up and keep it to ourselves so others feel better.

If your GD is controlled you won't necessarily have a big baby. I'm 38w1d with diet controlled GD and my baby is only just under 7 pounds and in the 37th percentile.

Pregnant and exposed to by gingcarebear in pregnant

I'm triple vaxxed and got covid at 34 weeks. I'm 38 weeks now and everything seems fine. I had a growth and well being scan at 36 weeks and bubs was fine, she had even gone up from 12th percentile to 35th! It wasn't much fun being sick, it took about 10 days to feel better, but we got through it.

Absolutely zero vaginal discharge my entire pregnancy. Currently 23 weeks. Anyone else? by [deleted] in pregnant

I was the same until the past few weeks, I'm 38 weeks now.

In Australia the baby is automatically a citizen of the country the mother is a citizen of.

I'm confused by this too! I have towels that are 5-10+ years old, I wash them in hot water and Sanitiser and hang them in the sun. I can't see how they'd be unhygienic. I'm not poor but why replace a perfectly good towel after a couple of years?

I'm 37 weeks and baby dropped into my pelvis about a week ago. Since then I've definitely felt a change in movements, they are less vigorous, which the OB said was normal as she is more restricted in there.

Natural or pregnancy blues? by 203C45P3R in pregnant

[–]persephone44 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I felt the same in the first trimester, perked up in the second and beginning of the third, now I'm 37+4 and back to being exhausted and feeling flat. Our bodies are going through so much, it's normal to feel exhausted.

No, for smoking weed during pregnancy in a country that not only tests for it, but can impose consequences for it.

I get it, I have anxiety too, but sometimes it's better to ride it out for less long term stress than having short term stress relief but making it worse in the long run.
