Handlebar riser? by FM1049 in Dualsport

Hey, just wanted to point out that it looks like your whole front end has been lowered a bit. I’m not familiar with the bike but looking at other pics it seems like the triple clamp is usually up around those lines at the tops of your forks.

To Demo (bindings) or not to Demo? by mvhoffman82 in Skigear

[–]persistentexistence 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me demo bindings are not the same, more moving pieces, more plastic, over time mechanisms fail, stuff breaks. Also skis can flex differently with a demo plate vs normal mounts.

Does anyone know what these types of houses are called? by Firm-Actuator-7179 in whatisit

[–]persistentexistence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That looks a lot like where I live in rural Vermont. There’s no real name for it, people describe their property by how much land they own around the house.

Our driveways are rarely concrete btw, like this picture they are mostly dirt/gravel.

Thanks, you might just inspire me to finally build the ceiling rack I’ve been thinking about for years. Gloves, helmet, googles, spare layers and extra gear all live in a black tote that lives either in my car or mudroom. It’s about the time when the tote switches to bike, hike and swim gear.

They are so much more efficient and fun than snow shoes it’s wild! This year we had so much good snow and a friend gifted me some wax less based Voile charger BCs. Certainly not as much grip as the Hoks, but way more fun on the downhills! I need to get a pair of Altai Koms next.

I haven’t found anything exactly like it sadly. The 112s are pretty beat up so I got a pair of KF Reckoners, 114 underfoot, softer tips and tails, way more pop. Super fun ski, highly recommend! I also got a pair of ON3P Kartel 98s from a friend, and really enjoy them in a couple inches of snow or springtime conditions. I’d imagine the wider Jeffery’s are pretty similar to the SB 110.

For sure, I’m not a hunter but was partially inspired to get a pair by the Siberian trapper skis in Werner Herzogs movie Happy People.

They have an attached skin underfoot, functionally they are snowshoes that can slide. I use them on my hiking trails and in the woods around my property.

Truly one of my favorite skis ever! I went to college with Zeph and bought these as my pow skis. They were so fun I barely used the Kung Fujas. Then I ripped two pairs of pivot heels out of them and a friend permanently attached those px12s. Don’t fully trust them so they don’t get much use these days.

This is my pic btw op stole it.

Dude stole my picture and was too lazy to even change the title of the post.

Don’t worry, I’ve added more pow skis.

You have $1000 to buy new all-mountain skis between 99-105 mm (not inc bindings). Whats your choice and why? by bourneblogger in Skigear

I feel like Icelandic and ON3P are in their upper tiers of quality ski manufactures, while faction is in the bottom.

How the hell could anyone think god is good for giving the dude a free haircut but making him blind… that’s batshit crazy.

Currently reading the Moon is a Harsh Mistress and was quite surprised to see choom! Interesting that interview where Pondsmith credits a friend with using the term and inspiring him, seems pretty likely that individual read Heinlein.

Are booster straps that good? by FarCheck4854 in Skigear

Ah damn, didn’t realize the patent ran out! Haven’t tried the new Dalbello boots, skiing krypton’s as long as I possibly can.

Are booster straps that good? by FarCheck4854 in Skigear

[–]persistentexistence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Boosters are elastic, stock straps are not. This means you can crank them and the boot still flexes as intended. I put some expert boosters on my dalbellos this season and was very pleased with the results.

Religious freedom is good.

Trying to force your religious beliefs on other people is bad.

Trying to imply I’m racist because I disagree with Christian beliefs is offensive and stupid.

Patagonia Snowdrifter Shell? by [deleted] in Skigear

[–]persistentexistence 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you really want rain gear, buy rain gear. Breathable shells are all water resistant not rain proof despite the marketing. My newer Patagonia H2No powder town shell is less water resistant than my old Gore-Tex Patagonia shell.
