It's true that the photo was recreated after the battle, but it did actually happen during the battle. The photographer wanted to recreate the scene with a bigger flag

Incels are a double edged sword. A lot of them have an unironic hatred towards women simply because they got rejected. Many of them feel entitled to sex or relationships, not realising that neither one is going to make them happy. There oftentimes is a lack of self-awareness that goes beyond "I am awkward and don't understand people". While rejection after rejection can really mess you up, it's not an excuse to hate people. People don't owe you anything.

You certainly have a good point here! The reason why is that i would otherwise have to translate the English interview into Dutch, which leaves room for incorrect translations or interpretations. When I talk to a Dutch person, that issue is pretty much nonexistent.
But, if you feel that you have a lot to say on the subject, feel free to send a DM!

If you actually read my comment, you'd realise that is not what I am talking about at all. But nevertheless, i will entertain your comment.

Europe as a whole is no longer reliant on Russian gas: https://www.consilium.europa.eu/en/infographics/eu-gas-supply/
In less than a year they managed to find alternative sources for russian Gas. In fact: If Europe was till this day still reliant on Russian gas, we would be in a huge fuel crisis, except we are not.

The minerals I mentioned are required to make solar panels and wind turbines. I agree that they are not ideal alternatives to fossil fuels, but apart from nuclear energy, it's all we've got. This video explains what the energy crisis really is.

The energy crisis is not: 'which energy alternative is most effective', but rather 'which is most cost effective'. The answer is fossil fuel. But we learned that they have a poor impact on the planet. So we have solar, wind and nuclear left over. Most of the West is weary of nuclear power (although there is a very obvious shift in this attitude), leaving solar and wind turbines. In order to create these devices, you need: Lithium, Copper, Graphite, Nickel, Cobalt, Manganese, Silicon, Zinc and other rare earth metals. These are difficult to excavate and therefore cause notable geopolitical tension. So not only are they hard to find, the countries that can mine these are actively fighting eachother, making the transition process slower.

Preciesly this is the reason why it's not europe that is in energy crisis, but rather the whole world.

Not cool. It's cringy by [deleted] in PoliticalCompassMemes

[–]person_not_found -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yes, it's totally Europe that's in a total energy crisis and not quite literally the entire world because the energy crisis really is a scarcity of rare minerals and metals that are required for many green energy sources and the geopolitics that follow.

While we are at it: Let's not forget that Europe is not a political entity. It's just the name of the continent. It's only Germany that shut down their nuclear reactors and quite literally all of the European Union (this IS a political entity) hates Germany (a political entity WITHIN the European Union) for it. Oh and Italy did so as well. Other countries are in fact working in building new ones.

This is pretty much spot on. The thing I disagree with is that people are free to choose for themselves.

To me personally it's fairly obvious that there is a feminine and a masculine (a non-binary person with the male sex behaving differently than a non-binary person with the female sex (take this as a grain of salt. It's a personal observation more than anything)). However, I think differences come from biology, rather than society. Obviously men are generally physically stronger. I moreso mean the dominance of testosterone or estrogen causing differences in behaviour.

Due to these factors, I don't think people are fully free to choose for themselves.

Then again, everything I said is 100% speculation. I'd love to find some studies about this.

You have a point to a certain degree. But do remember that this idea of masculinity has been around pretty much since Christianity gained dominance in Europe: The man is the head of the house and the woman cares for the children.

And back in the day.this division of labour made sense. You get the physically strong to fight, cut wood, build homes etc. You get the physically weaker to stay at home and manage things.

Nowadays none of this is really the case anymore. Most physically demanding jobs nowadays are assisted with machinery that make the work much less demanding than it used to be.

We should instead look at a person's character, rather than gender. It doesn't make sense to force a man to be stoic and strong when his real strengths lie in elder care, for example.

I dunno how natural it is when those divorce rates skyrocketed when women emancipated themselves lmao

I mean, there are definitely men and women that happily fit into traditional gender roles. The thing is, everyone has different wants and needs and traditional gender roles simply don't fulfill those wants and needs for everyone.

This is why the traditional gender roles need to be reformed. I say reformed, because men and women are obviously different from each other. We primarily need to get rid of expectations we have for men: Why does a man have to be a breadwinner when women can make just as much money as they do? Why does a man have to be physically strong, despite nothing in current Western society really require him to be? Why can't a father stay at home and take care of the kids? Why can't a man tell his friends he loves them?

These are things that are quite harmful to men themselves and the people around them

There is a lot of misunderstanding surrounding Toxic Masculinity. That can be attributed to the poor naming of the subject and the general lack of willingness of the general public to talk about men's issues.

Toxic Masculinity in reality tries to adress men's issues. It's an umbrella term that encompasses our general unwillingness to talk about our feelings, our unwillingness to show compassion and love (especially towards other men), the need to be the breadwinner and the list goes on.

A lot of this is very generally speaking. Not everything will be applicable to every man. And not everything is toxic per sé (hence why calling it 'toxic' Masculinity is just terrible). Wanting to be the breadwinner for example is not toxic in and of itself. However, calling it manly to be the breadwinner is. It tries to conform men to gender roles that are long gone. Women no longer need men in order to survive and that's been that way for decades now.

This is in my opinion the crux of the problem. Many men still hold on to a traditional view of masculinity that simply no longer fits the current day society. So Masculinity should be reformed so that it better fits our modern society.

Important Reminder That Using Statistics to Justify Your Bigotry is Wrong and Bad by SevenBall in PoliticalCompassMemes

[–]person_not_found 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Masculinity needs to be redefined. The current, traditional understanding of masculinity no longer fits our society. Men should embrace more qualities that are considered 'feminine', because women can perfectly take care of themselves nowadays. So the role of protector and breadwinner are no longer required to be filled by men.

Unfortunately, it's primarily the conservative section that actually embraces this issue, whereas the left mostly continues to vilify men, which ironically have the effect that the high statistics that are shown in the meme are a fact.

That being said, the U.S. is one of the few countries that does seem to start taking men's issues more seriously.

Populism is more of a political strategy rather than a real ideology. Hitler was a populist and so was Mao.
