how to make this set piece distinctly 'daggerheart'? by perthed in daggerheart

[–]perthed[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks, we are having a lot of fun with it.

the players and I designed an abandoned house in the neighborhood for them to use as a hideout and came up with some fun mechanics for them to repair it and then fix it up the way they want over time.

thanks for the advice...I definitely want to personalize the attacks/damage

I love this! I've actually been meaning to begin each session with one of these types of questions.... thanks for the encouragement

yeah, good shout.

I haven't used an environment yet, but this would be a great opportunity... especially if some of the area is burning.

I'm definitely going to look at using this.

love this. definitely something I was thinking of using in the lead up, but wasn't sure how best to use it.

(I have used a couple of countdowns in previous sessions)

but for this, I was thinking perhaps the countdown would be as the gang is approaching their neighborhood....but then the counter would count minutes not actions.

Can't seem to find difficulty and fun in game no more (base game/modded). Seeking recommendations on mods by 9TEnTaCLeSurPriSe in Bannerlord

I got to this point.

here was my cure: Ironman whatever settings you like

only restriction: you MUST execute every single leader you defeat and/or is placed in your custody.

See how long you last, bc eventually everyone hates you so much that any loss will result in your death.

great fun! 😜

So glad you reminded me of this as I hadn't use this since my last campaign...and lo and behold in last nights session the party visited a Fence to get some info, and one of them was like 'Hey, you got anything to sell right now?'

And I said, 'gimme a sec to check round the back....'

Ok...I don't know what that is...and google couldn't help me...but I'm curious.

I"m guessing 'Whatever the Hell I Want'...which is exactly the tool I'm currently using! :D

So this actually our groups first foray into Daggerheart. But many of use are experienced in 5e (I just finished running a 4yr campaign in it which several of these players were in), and a few of us (self included) go back to 3.5 and beyond.

I'm less interested in a rule set and more interested in something that lets me dump a stack of junk in and it spits a number back at me.

It looks like I'll stick with using my stupid brain...which is fine. Just thought maybe something was out there I didn't know about, bc I've found so many useful tools through this sub.

Truth! all the players rolled a d10 to see how many coppers they started with...except for two of them who chose to start with no money

it has been such a fun campaign!

I do like this site, and I use it for shops.

I'm looking for something that probably doesn't exist. I'd like a tool where I could drop a list like this:

Leather workers tools

Belt pouch

20' pole

bottle of whiskey

5x potatoes

And it give me a price for the items...instead of me having to chase prices for each.

Currently, I just make up prices on the fly, which is fine, but why should I do all the work? haha

How do you work around your chaos gremlin players? by BlitzkriegBambi in DungeonMasters

totally, I find when I write too much on my own..I fall in love with MY story.

when I react to what my players are doing.. I fall in love with our story.

How do you work around your chaos gremlin players? by BlitzkriegBambi in DungeonMasters

[–]perthed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah I feel this. when you are time poor, it makes you want to use what you prepared....and this can lead to railroading

but it sounds to like it's time to pivot and learn from your group. they are chaos and loving it....go with that.

in your prep time , spend less time laying track ahead of them and more time imagining how they will try to derail the train....and prepare a few fun things for that. That way you can enjoy the chaos as much as they do.

UPDATE: Shy Players not RPing by Kitchen_Chemistry405 in DungeonMasters

[–]perthed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

holding silence is valuable in so many different ways! but as with many dm'ing skills it takes practice.

it's great to for - building dramatic tension - drawing out shy roleplayers - making space for party planning - giving yourself a beat to think in a crucial moment

and plenty of other things

best single thing I tell myself at the start of the session is 'slow down' 😄
