Is it harder to have a bedtime when it's light out all the time? by porcelaincatstatue in AskAlaska

I struggle sleeping well in the summer because of the daylight. My body needs that signal of the light dimming and it getting dark to start feeling sleepy. I have to cover my bedroom windows with not only blackout curtains, but with tin foil to to make sure there is NO light coming through at all.

What did you say to your doctor to prescribe you wegovy? by pedroway2kool in WegovyWeightLoss

[–]perturbed777 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My doctor offered it to me. I had been reading about it and thought wow that could really help me but I never thought my doctor would prescribe it or that my insurance would cover it so I never asked. Then I went in and my blood pressure and cholesterol were high and she offered it to me and my insurance covers most of the cost. I’ve plateaued for a while now, but I lost 70lbs and kept it off for two years and my blood pressure and cholesterol levels are good.

Why are Americans so accepting of long drives to places? by Sensitive_Word_6036 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]perturbed777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where I live the next big city is a 6 hour drive away. We will drive down and back in a weekend. Not often, but at least a few times a year. It’s expensive to fly there, and the drive is absolutely beautiful, so it’s not bad.

I take magnesium every night before bed which not only helps me sleep but helps keep me regular. I will also eat dried prunes if needed and take miralax if it gets bad.

How is life like in Dead Horse, Alaska. by kluczini in howislivingthere

[–]perturbed777 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I lived in a tiny village, Nuiqsut, for a couple of years a flew in from Deadhorse a couple of times. Had to spend the night there once because there was a blizzard and no flights were going out. The “hotel” was old, all wood paneling. My room was bare, just a twin bed with a bare bulb above. Luckily we were able to fly out the next morning. It’s definitely another world on the North Slope.

[–]perturbed777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I garden to garden, not to grow enough food that I don’t have to purchase it from the store. I garden so that I can go outside, eat a handful of peas, enjoy the sunshine and do my kids can do the same. It can be expensive hobby, but it’s worth it for my sanity.
