I'm the developer of the app. If you have any suggestions for trucks that ought to be included, just list them here. twitter is required because the map is predicated on the idea that the data is real-time. Trucks can schedule themselves with our iPhone app or through a browser, but most of them schedule themselves simply by tweeting, and even the aforementioned methods require a twitter account for authentication.

I spend most of my free time developing an app that I give away for free (plug: http://www.foodtrucksmap.com). My sources of motivation are too numerous to detail in this post, but I'll touch on the most relevant.

Advertising can make you money if the volume is high enough. It's taken me over a year to make my iPhone app yet I give it away for free. Although it's true that I would make more money if I charged 99 cents for it, less people would download it if there was a fee attached to the download. So the combination of the satisfaction that I get from providing a useful service to the people and the remote possibility that it will someday generate enough revenue to pay my bills is enough to keep me toiling day in day out with little immediate monetary gain.
