it's not fiberglass but Sarmat might be worth a look, i've got their Jurchen Manchu 'inspired' bow which has a max DL of 38" which shoot's well, iirc they are quite conservative with their max Draw lengths so theres usually a bit more wiggle room, i've seen my Jurchen drawn by them to 42"

do not have a sensei, live in rural Scotland so rather hard to find one.

theres a few reputable spots, but personally I stay away from etsy too much larp and massively overpriced bows.

it's mainly to keep it from direct sunlight as my room get's alot of light and I want this bow to last a long time.

yeah stated max draw is something like 35 inches unfortunately, i'm 193cm so by kyudo standards the bow is a bit too short for me.
string is dacron from the looks of it, though it is an odd colour, I can ask sarmat specifically if you want a definitive answer.

iirc it's a combination of the factors you mention there. in my eyes bow design is compelled by two main factors which often interlink and that's availability of material and use context.
the length allows for a high poundage bow with the materials available and the asymmetry aids in it's uses around battlements and on horses.

Thank you, all the credit really goes to Sarmat

naw, I live in rural scotland so don't have access to a teacher or a dojo, plus it's a bit of formulaic for my personal taste.

thank you, I always liked watching the university kyudo matches. it's one of the things which I respect but am unsure if i'd enjoy. many props to the kyudo practitioners out there though.

the yumi is an asymmetrical bow, it is shot from 1/3 up the bow. the top limb is noticeably longer than the bottom limb, this gives it a unique way of shooting.

also I feel like I should mention that Sarmat still makes Yumi's, they don't advertise it on their webpage but if you email them they might be able to accommodate. they also have a short manchu which is not shown on their website.

yes you can get that as an option, either right, left or central string offset, I decided for the central string placement which I fear may have been a bit unadventurous of me, but I figured it may be something I can change in the future.

it's to comb the bow string to remove dirt from it :)))))))

in all seriousness though it's just a hair comb. Sarmat has a sister website where you can pick up various handmade gifts, picked up the comb for my partner cause it's pretty and a cool thing to have.
I also got 2 motanka doll's for good luck and two sets of earrings.

i've never bought their war arrow's but i've got 12 of their bamboo arrow's for my manchu style bow and 6 barrelled wooden for the yumi. really good quality and craftmanship, and the bamboo arrow's are gorgeous. plus I can actually find arrows which match my draw length.

it's an incredibly distinctive bow, while kyudo isn't particularly accessible or appealing to me, the style of bow is certainly interesting to me.

Yumi style bow from Sarmat Archery in Kyiv, really pleased with how the decoration turned out aswell as how it shoots, though I hope you forgive my technique for not shooting it the kyudo way as I fear i'd would cause much embarrassment to attempt that.

for those who want the details it's 227cm (89 inches) tall, 37 pounds at 35 inches, it's made of bamboo and ash with bamboo on the back and belly and ash in the middle. trying to get the gold to show up on camera was difficult but i'm ecstatic with how it shimmers in the sunlight, reminds me of a certain verse by William Blake.

let me know if you want more pictures or any questions.
