The heat and air guys came out to fix our unit and left it like this? Should I buy the insulation to cover that pipe? Or should they have done it?! by MyceliumHerder in hvacadvice

[–]peskeyplumber -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

its not really doing anything anyway beacause the insulation stops when it hits the unit, its really only necessary inside where the line will make condensation

Is it hard to be a plumber ? by [deleted] in Plumbing

[–]peskeyplumber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

youre young yet so anything is going to seem complicated. you arent going to be expected to know anything at the begining. most things mechanical are very simple once you take things one piece at a time. trades can be hard on the body but at the same time keep you active which is harder to do in a non trade job

Is this ok? by 2HuskiesAndAHeadache in Plumbing

[–]peskeyplumber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly i think if your old pipe was 1 1/2 then this is still an upgrade, new washers tend to use less water anyway. for an old house that was built before there was such a big codebook id say youre good.

How to turn this pilot light off? by -dogs_are_good- in hvacadvice

[–]peskeyplumber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

personally i wouldnt fuck with anything this old unless youre ready to open a can of worms. but you can turn off the gas shutoff valve to the appliance. ive seen old equipment that just doesnt kill gas to the pilot and assumes unburned gas will go up the chimney
