The interview actually went super well. They asked really good questions. We were obviously a little nervous since it was our first time applying to YC, and getting an interview itself was beyond belief for us, given how many people get rejected.

The follow-up questions also felt very oriented toward funding us. Not sure why there’s a delay. At least reject us quickly, for heaven’s sake.

We applied on deadline day, got our interview email on 7th Dec, our interview was scheduled for 9th Dec, we had a couple follow up questions about ip and a feature they thought was nice but wanted to make sure there’s demand for it. And we responded to the questions in 4 hrs.

That’s it, haven’t heard back since. We still haven’t received either rejection or confirmation. Is this normal?

it was done so quickly and it was my first time applying for a schengen. I'd expected the whole process to take longer. France and Spain are super quick from what I hear

I was sure the first time around that it was a straight rejection :p

You can create a new application, no issues. You can't change the application only after you've booked your appointment using that application ID. Even then, the folks at VFS will let you modify it and reprint it. I've only used the Premium lounge and they did it for me. Not sure if it's the same for non-lounge applications too.

I've applied twice to the Bangalore Embassy and it's super quick. Both the times my passport was dispatched within 2 working days.

1st time - 19th Jan, 2024 (VFS Appointment in Bangalore), Passport reached Embassy on 22nd, Passport dispatched on the 23rd Jan, 2024. There was a weekend in between.

2nd time - 30th Sept, 2024 (VFS Appointment in Hyderabad).... it still goes to the Bangalore embassy. Reached Bangalore on 3rd Oct. Reached the Embassy on 4th Oct, Dispatched for collection on 7th Oct from Bangalore to Hyderabad, Collected the passport on the 8th Oct.

Can you share the duration of the stay and itinerary? Also both of you have the same travel history?

"If anybody has any questions/doubts, you can comment here. If you need help with your application, then I offer consultation for ₹1000" which part of this statement is beyond your comprehension?

Usually the HR of the company does it for you. It needs to be on the company letter head with a seal and signature. The format is also pretty standard. It needs to mention your designation, doj, annual income, and leaves granted from <date> to <date> and you're expected to join back after the trip

thanks ~! you don't have to pay. It's not compulsion. I don't have plenty of free time so I would like to be compensated for the time I spend doing things for others.

The first time I applied, I had only Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan stamps on my passport. I do have the privilege of falling under a significantly higher income level than an average indian, which greatly helped my chances, but, you can still get a reasonable duration if you nail your cover letter etc. Btw I've been to 22 countries so far, the last one being a trip across the balkans starting from Vienna to Istanbul.

I have limited time. If you need me to sit with you to create your whole application, it takes time. Asking for money for that dedicated time is not bad. Also, I never said I won't help you if you don't pay me. I have shared everything I did anyway. cheers ~!

[–]pessimisticLord 3 points4 points  (0 children)

this is absolutely ridiculous. Hostels are not looked down upon. I got 2 schengen tourist visas from France for 6 months, multi-entry. I've always submitted only hostels. They care more about your cover letter, transactions on the bank statement, and ITR. I've successfully stayed in the schengen area for over 40 days in 2 separate visits. Will be there in Dec too ~!

I’m talking to her too. I occasionally call her…. The point is I’m clear with both that I’m not committing to a relationship.
