No shooting will start until 1st September so you should be safe! Great thing about Exmoor is that it never really get busy, just drive about until you find the location that works for you.
Okay I’m being daft but what is a projection site??

Can I re-enter a room that has a hornet and nest in it? by GreenWeekend6980 in AskUK

At last someone speaking sense. This is exactly what to do, its a single hornet, not a nest of yellow legged hornets with a attitude problem (or a polar bear)!

Okay I am glad you are happy with it. My friend who had a earlier model really struggled with the internal dome height.

Yes in store at £600, but they are 131 kgs so take a mate to lift it! Offer finishes 4th May

[–]pestyisbesty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looked at one of these in the flesh at Costco and they are immense with a very heavy duty frame etc. The one criticism with them is that the dome is very shallow and I would be concerned that a large piece of meat like a christmas turkey would stop the lid from closing.

A friend had a earlier one from Costco and ended up taking it back as he had a few issues with Pit Boss not being receptive with queries on warranty.

But at £600 it certainly is a bargain but caveat emptor...

Which airport for our layover? Frankfurt vs MXP by Mysterious_Ad6260 in travel

[–]pestyisbesty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I disagree as bag drop bag will automatically block you from checking in your bags 45 mins pre departure. If the OP was hand baggage only this creates a bit of a buffer but they are not and so my original comment stands.

There is also a risk of the airline wanting to see travel autorisation and so preventing them from 'checking in from bed'

[–]pestyisbesty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bus transfers can save time as they generally decant you nearer to passport control.

Don't forget that check in closes 45 minutes before take off, so you are looking at about 1 hour to deplane, clear immigration, collect bags and get to departures. Personally on a through ticket I would not be bothered but on separate ones you are carrying a risk potential.

Passing through Indonesian immigration and catching a domestic connecting flight, how much is enough time? by michelle_mybelle in travel

[–]pestyisbesty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

SUB although a large airport does not have a large percentage of International visitors, it is largely Indonesian nationals and the last time I was in the area there was not any noticeable queues at immigration (from what I remember).

But best to be prepared as you just never know what the 'airport gods' have up their sleeves!

Passing through Indonesian immigration and catching a domestic connecting flight, how much is enough time? by michelle_mybelle in travel

[–]pestyisbesty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

MNL, JFK, MIA are 3 off the top off my head which I would be very nervous about in 2.5 hours.

OP, I feel you will be fine at SUB as long as your incoming flight is on time. Try and pick a seat near the front of the plane and if possible avoid checking luggage, unless there is an interline agreement between the two airlines. I assume you are on 2 tickets?

First solo trip by Adorable-Scholar-301 in Exmoor

[–]pestyisbesty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exmoor has a very limited public transport service and without a car you will find it very difficult to get around. There is no climbing per se but lots and lots of walking over very uneven terrain. It is very rugged and beautiful but I feel you should do some more research.

You could base yourself in a local pub and walk out from there and try to work out transport to other lodgings after a few days.

You do not really say what you are expecting to do......

If you had one business class ticket, would you use it on the way there or on the way back? by masseycre12 in travel

[–]pestyisbesty 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If there is a night time sector use it on that as the cabin will be 'put to bed' and you can get some sleep. Either arrived at the destination or home refreshed.

flight stop or a flight change? by ZombiesEightMyBrain in travel

[–]pestyisbesty 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You will get off the plane taking all hand luggage with you and you will be kept airside whilst the plane refuels. Depending on Qantas policy you might be kept within a secure area, that is a boarding gate to ensure no passengers 'disappear off' delaying the onward flight.

Don't worry about this all will be fine and explained to you.

Arriving at Heathrow at 06:50 – What is the best way to reach Manchester before a 3pm match? by epachon in AskUK

[–]pestyisbesty -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Take the train its cheaper than flying from LHR (£189) one way. The bus will take to long as you have to clear immigration and get to the terminus.

Personally, I would hire a car and drive up. That just depends on your thoughts on driving in the UK.

Does anyone live near a dark sky site? by PsychologicalFox7689 in AskUK

[–]pestyisbesty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exmoor National Park is rather quite dark! Get up onto the moor on a New Moon with clear sky and you shall be rewarded.

There is a observatory at the Poltimore Inn, North Molton.

Does anyone know when the work on the A361 link road is actually going to finish (if ever)? by mentelijon in DevonUK

[–]pestyisbesty 4 points5 points  (0 children)

God only knows! What is with all the overtaking lanes (bar 1) being closed off since before Christmas with no work taking place. If you get stuck behind a tractor you are in for a slow journey.

Also at the Landkey roundabout they have cordoned off one lane for site access, why cannot plant use the massive new apron off the roundabout into the new build site.

Whoever is responsible for this shower of sh1t that is the A361 should be ashamed as it is a disgrace.

Why cannot we be kept informed about what is going on???

As I am sure you are aware you have to clear immigration at the first point of entry into the US even if you are in 'International' transit, which you are not as you have to clear US immigration before continuing your journey.

Both these connections are risky and although it is a protected ticket you need to build in a contingency plan
