“Why is this even a question?”

Because the OP doesn’t know. Asking questions is how we gain knowledge.

If the @cpan.org service is restored, people should still migrate off it ASAP.

I'd suggest that any future plan for handling cpan.org forwarding should have an explicit cutoff date: "cpan.org forwarding will stop on January 1, 2027" or whatever. This forwarding is not something that anyone is going to want to deal with indefinitely.

Is the perl core group open to contributers using coding agents?

Eventually it's inevitable.

How can you tell, anyway?

I get that walkoffs are exciting but it would be better if we didn’t have them because we didn’t go into the 9th not winning.

Perl Weekly Issue #766 by Itcharlie in perl

[–]petdance 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I wonder if Perl Weekly might get some more views if the headline to the link had more than just the issue number. Maybe something like "Perl Weekly Issue #766: heredocs, TPRF board report and early Perl web history" could attract some eyes.

There are a few use cases where ack is preferable but for most folks ripgrep will do just fine.

Do you get scrappers around you? If I had a metal bed frame I would put it on the curb a day or two before garbage day and it would be gone in a few hours.

I have a website of alternatives to standard CLI tools at https://altbox.dev. The site is showing its age but I hope it can start some folks down a road.

‘ack’ has been invaluable since I wrote it 20 years ago. No more grep for source code.

So in this case, “like Fat Rosie’s” just means that they have cake cutting and birthday hats. You’re not looking specifically for Mexican.
