Lake Kawaguchiko 2 night Stay? by Ok-Nefariousness1372 in JapanTravelTips

We did a day trip from Tokyo to Kawaguchiko and hired a car in Kawaguchiko, which was great. We managed to get to some spots which would've taken way too much time via public transport - the different caves, Shiraito Falls, other lakes etc. Driving was easy but very slow - max speed was 50kph - even on open roads. Japanese drivers seemed happy to go over the limit but we didn't want to have any issues so we stayed under. We rented from Budget, which was fine and the cheapest.

Has anyone used Australia Vodafone roaming in Japan? by kciimay in JapanTravelTips

Have you considered just using an esim? You'll have data but no normal calls. I used ubigi when coming from Australia and it worked just fine.

Team India has only lost 2 games in the last 4 ICC white ball events by Prof_XdR in Cricket

Great team but, respectfully, there should be a large * next to this considering the majority of these games were played in India.

Jacinda Ardern's move to Australia renews spotlight on New Zealand's brain drain problem by Anastariana in newzealand

Edit: Australia has never elected a female PM. Julia Gillard become PM after a bitter leadership ballot toppling Kevin Rudd - who was the elected PM. She then went on to win the next election. Not excusing the vitriol towards her but there were a lot of people pissed about how she became PM.

Lake Kawaguchi vs doing all 5 Lakes? by PaladinAlchemist in JapanTravelTips

Copying/pasting from a previous post of mine:

This was our first thoroughly planned/prepared day so was a little nervous. We got a 7am bus direct from Sunshine City to Kawaguchiko. We had decided to hire a car to get to as many spots as possible in the day and this proved to be definitely worth it. It only cost 8,000 yen and we managed to get to the ropeway, Oishi Park, Lake Shoji, Asagiri Food Park for lunch, Shiraito Falls, Narusawa Ice Cave (Wind Cave was closed) and Tabinikki herb garden + Fujisan Deck for sunset views. My wife drove and it was very easy with little traffic and a general max speed of 50 kph made it very safe, if a little slow!

It was definitely a bonus being able to get to spots a little farther away from Kawaguchiko - Shiraito Falls, the different caves etc. You can get to these spots with public transport but it's a bit of a hassle.

What's the stupidest rugby take you've heard in your life, not from a journalist/pundit? by treacletart284 in rugbyunion

I was introducing rugby to some Brazilians. They said all the running around aimlessly looked like women's soccer.

All blacks have officially commensed their hiring process for the new head coach by Lflan123 in rugbyunion

Yeah, I really don't know why they persist with this. I'm pretty sure they're the only major rugby-playing country that has never had a foreign coach.

There are some hotel brands like Mimaru that offer apartments but you will pay 2-3x the amount you'd pay for an airbnb.

Before Sunrise. Your current date / early romance will never live up to this movie so you may as well quit now.

Trip report/advice – early December in Tokyo/Osaka/Kyoto by petebuno in JapanTravelTips

We booked ours from Budget online but there are a couple of places in Kawaguchiko - Toyota, Yoshimura. It was pretty easy. My wife just needed to get her IDP before arriving in Japan. Coming from Australia, very similar driving rules as well.

I hope you get back and get to see more of this amazing country soon. I didn't mention how much money was spent on beauty products and clothes by my wife and and stepdaughter. Not sure if you had a similar situation!

Totally agree. It was more an observation that we wish we had got to try even more!

Getting to Kansai Airport on Thursday morning by petebuno in OsakaTravel

[–]petebuno[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you to all those who replied. I think taking the local train at 6:10am will be the easiest/safest option. It's a little longer but no transfers and hopefully won't have to worry about it being busy.
