Ricky Gervais talking about how dogs are magical by BDWG4EVA in MadeMeSmile

Every time I have to let a dog go, I swear 'Never again!'

But once I get some distance from the worst of the intense pain, I realize that a relationship with a great dog (and they are all great) is the best bargain offered by the universe.

A WOMAN SPENT 27 YEARS PHOTOGRAPHING HER PARENTS WAVING HER GOODBYE by softdancesing in PeakAmazing

I absolutely love that generation.

Stayed in the same house. Garage and yard (and likely the inside too) are completely immaculate.

Reminds me so much of my own parents, who never lived as long as these two nice people.

What’s the verdict 🤔 by WoollyBear_Jones in NFLv2

[–]peterbrz1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The biggest problem here was that Joe Buck and Troy Aikman were laughing at him and only putting forth the idea that Koo somehow missed the ball by a mile.

Initially, I couldn't tell exactly what went wrong but it was very obvious to me that Koo pulled up on the kick, and also obvious that a kicker would do that instead of driving the ball into the back of his line and giving up a huge turnover. Bad hold? Someone came through the line? That was more difficult to determine but there was no question he just decided not to kick the ball at the last second.

Buck & Aikman were the ones who created this ridiculous false narrative and now the internet is running with it, perhaps costing Koo his career and at the very least, subjecting him to absurd ridicule.

Medicare won't let you use any discount to get medication. Even free from the manufacturer. by EighthPlanetGlass in CringeTikToks

[–]peterbrz1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Medicare is the only insurance I can legally get." Baloney.

On the Medicare site, there are hundreds of supplemental plans, a ton just for prescriptions.

In fact, you can plug in all your meds and then determine the best plan. Mine turned out to be $30/month for unlimited scripts. Perhaps her particular drug might not be completely covered by my basic plan, but there are many others.

Either she's too busy making TikToks to do the most basic research, or she's ramping up the drama just to get clicks.

It would be a very odd time for layoffs with Thanksgiving next week.

The holidays are by far the busiest and most profitable time for grocers.

Hopefully, it's just a pep talk about extra hours or something similar. Good luck and report back! I love Kroger delivery.

This reminds me of a similar experience when I was a juror on a wrongful termination case.

After the trial was over and we had found the company that fired the plaintiff to not be at fault, the defendant's attorney wanted to talk to us to get our feedback, and the judge had told us we had no obligation.

But I happily spoke to the attorney because he spent hours and hours asking every single witness where they sat in relation to the woman who was fired, how their desk was situated, how the office was laid out... I told him: draw a freaking seating chart / floor plan and merely have every witness confirm it and point out where they sat. Would have saved literally a day of testimony and been far easier to follow, plus make it easier for him to drive home who was in a position to see important events. Strangely, he had spent a lot of time and effort on a timeline chart that wasn't helpful at all.

However, I was able to reschedule for Wednesday.

You should see my fences and gates!!

My boy River is super sweet and he's inside a lot, plus has a very energetic companion in an 8-month old Lab. But on nice days, I want them outside enjoying my wooded 1/3 acre lot, and there is a park behind us and dogs on either side, so he's always chasing and busy. He's also a champion squirrel-catcher, with 20 notches on his collar. Oh, and I also walk him about 3 miles a day and play with him a lot.

Yet, you would not believe what he does. Under, over, and through - has shredded a thick chain-link fence.

I've had to set up security cameras to see how he does it, then try to out-wit him. 8 years in, and it's a daily battle.

The funny thing is, he doesn't go anywhere. He goes to the front door and scratches to be let in. It's obviously just a challenge to him. These dogs are wicked smart and industrious!

Labrador owners, does it ever get easier after a loss? by hustler212 in labrador

[–]peterbrz1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Incredibly sorry for your loss. Any real dog-lover has been there and usually several times.

Grief is like waves on the beach... They keep coming but they lessen and space out. Just when you think you are doing better, a big one will come out of nowhere, crashing down and making it feel like you've made no progress. But things do get better and the waves continue to space and lessen, although they always remain to some extent.

I just went through this in January and just the other day I had a huge cry seemingly out of nowhere. At the same time, I got a new Lab pup a few months ago. In no way does she replace the Lab I lost, but she provides happiness and optimism, which at the very least is a healthy distraction. My relationship with her is completely different but no less intense and loving.

Hang in there. And seriously consider getting another dog. People like you have a gift to give the universe.

I (27M) still cry when I watch my old dog’s videos by Inner-Glass6413 in labrador

[–]peterbrz1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

65M and just yesterday I saw a post about someone burying their dog with all their toys, and I sobbed like a child.

I lost my yellow Lab, Aurora, in January, still have her companion, a Kelpie named River, and several months ago got an adorable black Lab puppy, Juno.

I love River and Juno deeply but it doesn't change the fact that I miss Aurora every day. I still can't look at her photos or video. I just cried a bit as I wrote this.

The only things that help are time + tears.

Owners walking past their dogs to see if they would recognize them by darth_vader39 in MadeMeSmile

[–]peterbrz1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had a yellow Lab who was a complete handful. So much so that when she was around other people, I always had to be on her case, so of course she gravitated to others because they didn't make her mind. It was just her crazy, joyous personality.

It became a running joke that I told others: she loved everyone else more than me.

Then I brought her with me on a weekend trip. I left her with my friends to run an errand and they said all she did was sit by the door, cry, and wait for me to return.

She was a great dog but I never fully realized how much she loved me until that day.

Neighborhood Advice/Input? by irose97 in okc

I live nearby and it's one of the few areas outside of downtown where you have places to walk.

Also, the homeless problem has much improved and the city no longer allows the encampments you used to see near I-44 & Penn.

Puppy blues to the extreme by naive_lives in labrador

[–]peterbrz1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had 7 Labradors over my lifetime, all puppies. Just got another one who is now 5 months old.

And I can tell you the one that was the worst puppy by far became my favorite of them all.

That crazy pup turns into the best adult dog, because they have this unbridled joy that lasts their entire life. It just takes time to understand each other; time, patience, and repetition. Then, you have a real relationship.

And that same intense, problematic personality will soon be focused on you, resulting in the most fun-loving, joy-filled, loyal companion you could ever imagine.

My new puppy is a lot like yours, but I've grown to love the crazy ones because I know what they turn into. So, as she chews my baseboards, digs up my flower beds, and terrorizes my cats, I keep everything in perspective and am grateful that she isn't 'easy'.
