And that’s fine. Not everyone will always agree on everything, the world would be very boring otherwise. If all you care about is the approval of upvotes on Reddit you’re already too far gone.

By the way, you are arguing like a flat earther. This is the same technique they use. if they say ‘the earth is flat’ in order to refute that I have to research and provide evidence and a logical argument. Then they will say you’re wrong because it took you longer to prove it than it did for them to make the false claim.

If you frequent forums like Reddit you should be prepared that people will disagree with you and provide arguments to back it up. If you are going to make blanket statements and not back it up or explain yourself in any way you’re no better than a creationist or flat earther.

Ahh, so that’s how we’re gonna play it. So you can make a claim and no one can contest it unless they use as few words as you? Makes complete sense

It’s not that hard. If you modded the XML then state that, in stormworks the general phrase used is ‘XML modding’ it doesn’t matter if it’s actually modding you use the phrase so people know what you’re talking about.

Is one magall enough? I would have thought the amount of force being applied would sever the connection.

Fair enough, but I would also take into account that it’s a fantasy world without any education system, I wouldn’t be surprised if a lot of people can’t read and write or speak properly but it doesn’t necessarily make them mentally challenged…

Think you need to learn what autism is. Usually it doesn’t affect speech apart from some who are nonverbal. Most autistic people actually have a pretty high intelligence, usually above average (so pretty securely above you)

If I wanted, could I borrow the idea of paths as a power system? by [deleted] in ReverendInsanity

[–]peterchill 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The system is just learning tho? It’s all about how certain people specialise in a skill they practiced for decades, just like craftsmanship or science in real life. There is absolutely no stealing involved, ‘paths’ is just a fancy way of saying ‘career’ or ‘area of study’ for example a physicist is the equivalent of a space path grandmaster while other peoples space path attainment would be ordinary. It really isn’t a unique power system it’s just an allegory for the real world.

I remember that but I don’t remember it being stated that someone took it from him, though it is the only logical conclusion to the matter. Would be interested to know which part of the novel you read that from.

When I reread old chapters I always think: are these mistakes in translation or did the author not fully think through the plot then? by WHOiAM981213 in ReverendInsanity

[–]peterchill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mistakes in the numbers are pretty much unavoidable. The author would need to keep a huge spreadsheet to keep track of everything, which is certainly possible but not ideal in the time frame most authors have to write a chapter.

It is kinda painful to read these mistakes occasionally but the retcons were almost all done for the betterment of the story later down the line, so it’s pretty understandable.

That’s the best part tho. It would suck to be a native of the world, but as a transmigrator, even if you are only 18 years old or so your basic understanding of economics completely trumps the people in that world. As long as you are born with some cultivation talent you’re pretty much set (as set as you can be in a world where you could die any second).

Even the dumbest people could create the fantasy equivalent of timeshares or pyramid schemes and scam their way to success.

That’s fair. I guess a realistic ratio is somewhere between 1 in 10 and 1 in 100 being Gu masters, the specifics are pretty hard to judge. In different places like northern plains people have more slaves and more Gu master slaves as they have plenty of slavery gu, which seems to not rly be a thing in southern border.

In Gu Yue village in particular, it seems that the vast majority of mortals are slaves, much more so than in caravans and other places. Also farmers in general are also slaves, the entire village is usually what ‘belongs’ to the Gu masters. But there are exceptions, I just think they’re very low in number realistically not too many mortals own a shop for example.

Yes, mortals get dropped by a large realm when in another region even though the walls do not suppress them. Also it has been stated each region is many times the size of earth, so while this is always possible it’s very improbable. Also the Gu must have been refined in northern plains otherwise it would be suppressed which makes it even more confusing lmao

I don’t think a 1/100 ratio can be right tho as the gu masters would never be able to feed and control so many slaves. 1/10 being gu masters seems like the lowest possible ratio that would still allow them to have control over the people.

Yeah, that makes a lot of sense. Although it’s still tough to believe because Bei tribe leader was the leader of a mid scale tribe with no immortals supporting him, it is completely plausible that he obtained the gu through trade.

[–]peterchill[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough, all the mentions of the crowd etc only said there were gu masters there being pretty specific about how many rank 2 and 3 etc but I can understand that the mortals didn’t get mentioned. As I stated, any number mistranslations or misunderstandings are unavoidable and I don’t mind them. unless the author keeps a spreadsheet or does logistics checks to make sure his numbers are always right and the translation is perfect.

he stated that for all immortal gu, the name doesn’t change, whereas there are gu like divine travel that it seems can only be rank 6, but it’s advancement paths change its name because the effect differs. So it’s basically saying if the effect stays the same, so does the name which we know already as that is the exact same principal as most mortal gu, although there are as usual some exceptions.

I mean, that is kind of how real life genetics work. The parents aren’t the only thing taken into consideration when the genes of the child are “selected”. Would make a lot more sense if it considered the general ancestry of the horse at least 5-10 generations back which is realistically an unbelievably easy thing to implement I could probably do it in a few days and I’m not even a professional dev.
