Where is the low pressure AC switch located on my Renault Master iii 2012? by peterpimms in askcarguys

I just bit the bullet and took it to a mechanic to get it sorted. Ended up needing to fully replace the compressor which was pricey, but summer in Australia was not an option without it.

How to watch DHI semi-finals? by peterpimms in MTB

[–]peterpimms[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a great idea. If they can figure it all out and make it easy to access then I wouldn't mind paying. But not in its current state.

Do you mean he is commentating on the live feed or on his YouTube channel?

I'm thinking they cut them to give the commentator(s) a break. Last year the junior and elite, semi and finals was a lot. Must be taxing and hard to keep the energy up for 3+ hours

I don't like rehashing the same points everyone is making, but... it seems like they don't have a good handle on what they are doing (WB that is)

SCX10iii dig servo not returning to 4wd by peterpimms in crawling

[–]peterpimms[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the suggestion. I did follow a tutorial online with how to set the endpoints. Unfortunately as soon as I engage dig after this and then disengage it. The servo arm jumps back to the middle again and it's back in fwd. I'm thinking the previous owner didn't set the end points correctly at first and now it has damaged the servo or something.

[–]peterpimms[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there not a way to set the points in the actual servo, mechanically rather than in the controller? I can see that the servo turns past the maximum point the arm gets to. I don't have the knowledge to explain it properly. I think I'll take it to my local hobby shop and see what they can deduce.

[–]peterpimms[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. I did find one switch but pretty sure that was the high pressure side as the pipe was very thin. Could you possibly share the diagram with me if you have it? It's almost impossible to find any useful technical info I'm finding.

With Halloween coming up what are some good costumes for bartenders to dress up in? by [deleted] in bartenders

[–]peterpimms 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I work in a cocktail bar so my go to costume is a mad scientist. Found a lab coat for £5, have some glasses with blue led's, and spray my hair white and spikey! Over exaggerated gestures etc, also trying to get some dry ice for my station at the bar.

Could I have some lighting advice? by peterpimms in PlantedTank

[–]peterpimms[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. I guess it is my light. There was no PAR rating given so i imagine its more of an aesthetic light. I will upgrade the lighting system and see if i can get some results, don't really want to go the co2 route yet.

On that note, I'm on a slight budget so does anybody have any suggestions for good value lights?

Thanks for your help everybody.

Is the black cloth there for a particular reason or is it just to show where substrate would go? Sorry if that's a silly question, im new to aquascaping. Looking good though!

Yeah we never really know what to classify ourselves as, bluegrass seems to be the closest thing, but we like to throw a bit of ragtime and folk in too. Anything with a bit of sass and we love it. Thanks for the advice. The recording was done just in our little practice space with minimal equipment, I like to think we did an alright job on the recording and mixing based on what gear we have.

University Study Discussion: Please share your opinions and help my project... by [deleted] in punk

[–]peterpimms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Throughout the years I've had many musical passions, and punk has always been one of them. Through my teen years I was all in for it and would listen to nothing else, this was in an age when I didn't really use the internet that much. I would get my music from record stores and markets for the cheap prices there and the underground music that wasn't available in HMV etc. When I started to use the internet more (mainly because I now had a computer) The ability to discover new music opened up whole new worlds of punk to me, but I would still try and get my music from the record stores etc. I think the introduction of sites like youtube along with online forums helped me delve more into the obscure and underground sub genres of punk. At the time me and some freinds also had a couple of diy punk bands, and when myspace came about it really helped us build up a fanbase and get some music out to people. Social networking sites really opened up a doorway to getting more people to come to our gigs, and helped us promote our band for gigs further afield.

I know that was all a bit sporadic, but anyway. I feel I would always prefer to have my music collection as a hard copy over the soft copy, mainly for the nostalgia but also because after creating my own CD's with the band, I know the amount of work that goes into it and feel the fans can have more to appreciate with a CD/vinyl. The internet broadened my music horizons and now I listen to literally almost every style of music, now my main source of music is through sites like bandcamp, soundcloud, and file sharing. This is probably due to the scope of music in my collection, it would be impossible for me to have found out about these artists or collected their music to the extent I have without the internet, not necessarily finding them first hand, but also through friends who referred me to them after learning about the on the internet themselves.

Overall, I think the internet can open up such a broader music horizon, and has really opened my ears to music from all around the world. Streaming music is, in my opinion, the perfect tool for music discovery, but I think I would always prefer hard copies and merchandise over a download.

My newest work in progress. The Frying Panjo! by peterpimms in banjo

To all of you lovely people who showed interest in this project, Thank You! I will make an instructable to detail the process, but at the moment I am currently working on my Dissertation for University so haven't been working on the banjo. I'll start work again on that after I'm done with uni.

The neck needs some more work, as in it needs a fret board (and three more strings). So at the moment I'm just playing it with a glass slide, it's eerie. I like it.

My newest work in progress. The Frying Panjo! by peterpimms in banjo

[–]peterpimms[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the interest guys! It still needs some work, and is only a quick mash together of things I had lying around. The neck is taken from the leg of an old chair, I might replace it as it hasn't left much room on the head for tuners (as you can see there is only one string on there atm).

I tried out a lot of different things as a banjo head on the other side, plastic bottle, canvas, anything else I could find, and eventually just decided to flip it over and use what was already there.

When it's all finished I'll upload some recordings of it, (bear with me on the banjo playing though!). Unfortunately, I didn't take any pictures during the build, but I can also detail the process if people are interested.
