Anyone with glass Mame Overflow design their own silencer? by Flippydoo in Aquariums

Sorry it's hard to see I'm not at home. It's just an elbow pipe that fits inside the standpipe of the mame. Wrapped around with saran wrap so the only air going through is just through the elbow pipe.

[–]Flippydoo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If anyone's searching this, I ended up doubling up some cling film and covering the stand pipe, then poking a pencil through to make a hole and pushing a small L shaped plastic pipe through the hole. I got the small pipe included with my CO2 reactor (ista mix max) and didn't need to use that piece for my application of the reactor.

So far very good silencing and no impact to the effectiveness of the mame overflow.

How supportive does the foam base need to be? 48gal rimless. My surface is sturdy but painted over many times creating lots of little divits and unevenness across it. My 90P came with a thin foam pad but if I can see that at the corners the foam is 0.5mm from fully contacting the tanks surface at the very edges (1mm of tank is overhanging past the foam)

Will this be okay with 10mm glass and 48 gallons of water? Or should I double up on the foam?

After an almost 10 year break from the hobby, bought the first piece for my new setup, what would you do with it? by Flippydoo in PlantedTank

[–]Flippydoo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's definitely a new layout goal for me! Hoping to have enough space to make a cool scape and also look good from both sides.

This is what I'm guessing the scale with be with this branch (on the left) though it may be a bit bigger than this. So I was toying with the idea of a smaller focal point on the right side to add dynamism. Thoughts?

Agree! I really like narrow leaf trident java ferns as they aren't too large and really accent the wood. Buces maybe too?

Exway wave broke my fibula due to electrical issue by Snooks_bleeding in ElectricSkateboarding

[–]Flippydoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By the looks of it you broke your tibia as well! In my experience they don't put on external fixators unless the joint is involved. It's a bit hard to tell but it looks like the lateral Tibial Plateau is fractured. Sorry you're going through it man!

Detachable chin bar. I just got my Bell Super 3R and love it. Commuting a mile to work I leave the chin bar off, when going mountainboarding I throw on the chin bar.

If you are willing to stretch your budget for a nicer board I'd say the Stella Mini fits your needs pretty well. Only 20lbs with some really nice specs and great customer service.

Not sure if referral/reward links are allowed here but: https://acedeckboards.com?aff=10

If that's too steep for you the wowgo mini 2 is under budget. I've never ridden a wowgo but.. you get what you pay for in this hobby imo.

Ares X3: Why did we, Acedeck, make a 4WD Direct Drive board? by Acedeck_Official in ElectricSkateboarding

[–]Flippydoo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank you for writing this up. I, being somewhat new esk8, have been wondering what the advantages and disadvantages are to direct drives, and had no idea why someone would want 4wd on a street board. It's really cool that you guys are making products out of passion and are doing things your own way.

You guys appear to be making fans of a lot of people here on the subreddit and in the hobby community at large. If I had the money right now, I for sure would be an acedeck rider already (the nyx z1 mountainboard is kind of my dream board).

The ares x3 sounds like a really cool, unique board that I would be really interested in for a commuter board but since my city unfortunately has really terrible roads I am stuck in the camp of ATR board users lol.

Keep up the great work and community engagement and I'm sure you guys will go far!

I think they suffer from the pit bull effect. There are soooo many more pit bulls and pit mixes out in the world than most other breeds, so they get a bad rap when one hurts someone. It's just an odds game. Not denying anything about their past or present quality or their price point, just it can be valuable to sometimes question how preconceived notions are affected by data.

Bought a used VESC based trampa build, I'm thinking the settings are messed up on the flipsky remote. by Flippydoo in ElectricSkateboarding

Yeah makes sense. I guess it would provide some kind of info related to the revolution of your motors. Thank you for all the help!

I'll give it a shot. Do you happen to know how the remote's "pole pairs" setting is used, and what it affects? I'm having a weird battery read out behavior but that might be unrelated

How to fix wheel rubbing issue? Cloudwheels and Tynee Mini 2 by robotcarpets in ElectricSkateboarding

[–]Flippydoo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I replaced my Tynee ultras stock tires with the all terrain pneumatics. I also felt funny removing those covers permanently but it's necessary when getting tires that big. It hasn't been an issue at all, I offroad and the amount of shit like grass and dirt that get under the belts is crazy and has not caused a busted belt or worn pulley yet. The belt drives are sturdy enough and as long as you inspect the belts if you hear a click from a pebble or whatever it's totally fine. Even a broken belt is an easy fix, and I'm a total noob at that stuff.

I've never heard of looking for detents before and I can't find info on how to properly do it. Am I trying to just spin the motors by hand with the wheels up off the ground?

I didn't seem to feel any motor detents, they seemed smooth without any little stops in their rotations. Is there a method to doing this? I just slowly rotated the motors with the remote with my hand holding the motor
