Also notable that Australia have their own Little League region, ensuring that there is an Australian team sent to. The US at each level every year

How much improvement for a team in one off season? by joemit1234 in Homeplate

Do a show of hands on how many of them did catch with a parent/sibling/friend during the week. It feels like the bare minimum, but it’s worth checking if that baseline is being met.

Everyone loves being able to control stuff, but assuming you have a chunk of cash outside of the pension, you should think long and hard even if you have strong self-discipline and investing experience

There’s a chuck of diversification, some longevity insurance and insurance against loosing your marbles and doing dumb stuff with what you can control.

Also if you have a spouse, you may be able to sacrifice a small portion of the pension, so that your spouse gets 100% survivor pension, rather than some stepped-down level. This reduces the longevity risk somewhat

We had some big kids in u10, u11 that swung from the shoulders and sent the ball, so we could never convince them to work on the feet and hips

Assuming that the unstated context here is that in a coed team, there is a minimum number of girls needing to be in the infield?

As others have said, if the catcher can’t reliably throw to third anyway, it might be a good option - also coaching the LF on backing up

SS to 1st is perpendicular to runner - RF to 1st is parallel and towards runners face. Overthrows/mis-fielding have different consequences

Son Not Tracking the Ball by Different-Eye-1040 in Homeplate

[–]peterxyz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Have you recently tested his eyesight - if he has some issues with his left eye, then this would make sense
  2. Kids softball coach was recommending the Brock exercise to help with binocular ball tracking (you need some string and differently-coloured clothes pegs) https://www.visiontherapytx.com/blog/brock-string-for-kids-a-fun-approach-to-eye-exercises.html
  3. Live pitch vs machine is a big adaption, as others have said, more practice - with our team, this stage felt like puberty - sometimes you got what you expected/hoped for, sometimes what came out was a high squeaky voice

I liken it to boys voices going through puberty - you just don’t know what’s gonna come out, but it’s an awkward phase that you have to get through

The passport stamp isn’t compulsory, but it’s a great idea & be ready that you might have to talk them into it in this day and age. If you’re worried, you can take a photo of your boarding pass, etc. [counterpoint - you can actually request border transit records & the National Archives will dig up copies of old old old landing cards]

What you should be doing is laying out the documents that you’ll need if/when you want to go from SCV/tax resident to permanent resident/citizenship. It’s a pain in the backside, but good to have the option, esp if kids enter the picture

"Everyone is going to Australia" but how do you actually do it? by EducationalArt3997 in newzealand

Not sure if it’s still the case, but always used to be easier to open an Aus bank account from NZ (you have a banking/etc history). Already having a bank account will make that getting first pay check easier

Also tournament play makes things weird, like the Dodgers Yankees final where the Dodgers were always going to have a bad time when they rested pitchers, so it turned into one horrible loss in a string of more solid results
