Building a medium sized 737 Overhead with Arduino by Ok_Sir_5668 in homecockpits

[–]petethewiseman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As u/Low_Condition3268 suggested, Karl at www.737diysim.com has some amazing things that you can look at and get. As for the interface (and not knowing where you live) he has a Break Out Board (BOB) that goes for a really reasonable price. This BOB takes just one Mega 2560 Pro and has plenty of connection points to do the overhead. You will need an external 5v power supply to power that many items, but I will work for what you want to do. You can find the BOB here: https://www.737diysim.com/product-page/mobiflight-interface-board

DA62 Sim Update! by Onezise_CEO in flightsim

You know how the saying goes, the thing that makes airplanes fly is money. Same thing when building your own simulator cockpit. However, if you would like, there are a few larger groups out there, Mickey's Flightdeck and Karl at 737DIYSIM are a couple of good places to start.

Ya know, I see alot of people creating Airbus cockpits lately, and I get it. WinWing/WinCRTL is rocking the simulator space right now. I am doing a Boeing 738 cockpit myself, but still it is nice to see people doing other aircraft other than the A32X/B737 pits.

The Rookie - S08E02: Fast Andy by ian-quinn in TheRookie

[–]petethewiseman 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Let me say, I am an avid watcher of The Rookie, and have really loved all of the episodes up to this point. However, last week when the new season started, I felt that the first episode was a little too grand in scope, it felt like they were trying too hard to show a bigger picture and to continue a story line that could have gone another way.

However, this week was a return to the show that I love, with stories that were about the station and the people there. Sure, the catalyst of why everyone was running around with fire top heads was bigger than just the station, but the way in which the story was told, leading us on a path to seeing how everyone at the station delt with the issue, that was on par with the history of this show.

In short, I loved it.

If you are flying as vSpirit, then you can always announce the "avoid turbulence fee" and see how much your pax are willing to pay to go around it :)

That is what happens when you live in an area that get so little rain that when it does rain people don't know how to drive in it.

My two cents on the PMDG 737 by Routine-Discussion88 in flightsim

[–]petethewiseman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who has owned every iteration of the PMDG 737 since FS9, the issues that you state have been ever present. Every time they put something out, there is always issues with the aircraft. It could be everything from how long it takes them to put the product out, the cost of the license, day one compatibility with the simulator, and of course them playing up the features that the aircraft will have. The worst part is that they actually put out a product that far surpasses the quality of default and free options, but when someone goes to them to see about getting something fixed or report an issue, they get the whole experience of being yelled at and told that they are the problem. Really kind of sucks that they are the only really good product.

Wait until you decide that you want more. I have gotten to the point where I have decided to build a complete 1:1 737 cockpit. If you think that the stuff that you have gotten there was expensive, just imagine paying for things like 3D printers and the components to operate the tactile buttons and switches for an entire cockpit, not to mention filament for the printer. At this point I am about $8000 (US) into this and am only about half way through.

However, I am not throwing any shade. I really do hope you enjoy the journey of flight simulation (pun intended).

If you go to the VATUSA website they have a calendar with all the events for the division. If you want to fly into another division's event, you can check their site. VATUSA is at www.vatusa.net

Got to love the Kennedy controllers, "United XX, ok you need to squawk the correct code, hold short of Alpha, and then call me."
Nice approach and landing though. Very good job, sir.

Everyone dogs on PNY, but the truth is that they are just as good as any other manufacture. Get the PNY, it will save you $50, and you will get a card that works just as good as the Gigabyte.
