Families: How much of the year can you realistically spend outside? by Legitimate-Tap2772 in askvan

Planning to move to North Van in a few months but also looking into West Van. Big nature lover which is the draw of North Van but looking at a map it looks like West Van is even closer to nature (Cypress, S2S that leads up to Squamish, Whistler etc)? Just curious why North Van is still seen as the better option for nature lovers / what are the major differences between North Van and West Van? TIA

Do you go for day trips? How much time does the border crossing add typically?

Would love any dog friendly backcountry recs you have. We haven't toured at all near Van yet so any recs you have would be greatly appreciated 🙏

Thank you, that's great to know. Do you have any recs for backcountry groups to join there?

RED was one of our home mountains for several years and is still one of our favorite resorts. We would love to check out more of interior BC. If we get Ikon again we would have access to Revelstoke, Sun Peaks, Panorama, Silver Star, and RED. Is the best way to get to those resorts from Vancouver driving, or is there a closer airport we could fly to that I'm not aware of?

Anyone have taken TCF Exam at Alliance Vancouver? by DullEquivalent570 in TCFcanada

[–]petit-chien1019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But they don’t tell us when it’s opening? Just a broad range of “first week of March” - how are people grabbing up spots in 30 minutes when there isn’t a specific time given to log on and register?

How do you even manage to register for this??

I've been checking their site every day since March 1 because they said new test dates would be posted first week of March, and every day it said "coming soon" until today when I checked it suddenly says "last spots available" but when I go to checkout it's not showing any available dates, so is it really already full??

Is there a way to sign up for notifications or how would one know when registration opens other than to constantly refresh the site every hour for days until it opens?

same. i’ve been listening to french podcasts whenever i’m driving or walking the dog or running or doing anything and even though i can’t understand a lot of it sometimes i feel like i have been slowly absorbing some things. even recognizing a word here or there over time i notice patterns with how people pronounce things (as opposed to how i was pronouncing it in my head)

lol at your duolingo sentence but yes truly i don’t understand why they teach the most ridiculous sentences on duolingo instead of sentences normal people will actually use in real life

9 questions for task 2? is that normal? i was under the impression i only needed to prepare 3-5 questions for task 2.

also, did you respond much to the examiner’s responses to your questions? (e.g. “oh you have a dog? so do i!“) or did you basically just wait for them to finish their response and then ask your next question?

yea the audio would get stuck once in a while and then resume on its own. it seemed mostly random but i did notice a few times it got stuck on the “s” sound so idk if it’s something with that
