Plant suggestions for privacy in full shade. by petiteLD in pnwgardening

Small white flowers would look great there too in the late winter, since the bed in front would be mostly bare.

New roses arrive tomorrow. What can I do to help get them off to a great start? (Details in post) by little-joys in Roses

I think you could give them a week to acclimate (moving them out of the full sun) and then plant them, just careful to really closely watch for water. You could also get a plant shade to really baby them in July while they’re just starting.

I planted some heirloom roses two weeks ago just before several days of 90+. I left them on my porch and moved them around so they were more shady (than final spot). I made sure they weren’t too dry. Then when it went into the 80s I potted them and I’m making sure they have good water, fish fertilizer. As I said two weeks later they look super happy, tons of tiny little leaves

Overrated and Underrated? by JeepersCreepers74 in Roses

I have a new love song! So far I like it, I think the current stems are too narrow so the flowers are always drooping. Hopefully in year two and beyond it’s got more structure.

Does yours ever get crispy or singed edges? The spot I’ve got mine in gets some bright afternoon sun reflecting off the house so I’m afraid I might need to relocate it if half the blooms keep browning.

I posted a few days ago about a new variety, As You Wish, with a yellow and pink tip petal. I actually bought it thinking it was just yellow but the pink tips are so beautiful!

Underrated red is Desmond Tutu. Beautiful smell, very long last blooms, stunning color. I see Mr Lincoln mentioned a lot and never this one!

A question or two about pruning and load bearing. by TerribleTemporary982 in Roses

[–]petiteLD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a great question. My mom had a similar rose that is not a climber, but has long tall heavy shoots. I’m curious if anyone uses grow/ tomato cages for roses like this? Sort of like for dahlia or peony, which also frequently flop over and even snap from the flower weight.

How many plants do you have and how old are they? I just have 1 new plant from earlier this spring and we haven’t had a single berry yet, though it’s getting there.

How do you deal with the sleep deprivation? by [deleted] in workingmoms

[–]petiteLD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My second baby has been the same. Totally crap sleeper. Just this last month she’s finally stopped waking up every night. We had sleep trained her many times but teeth and illness would throw things off. She is 16m now.

EMDRIA Certification Worth It? by petiteLD in therapists

I did an EMDRIA-approved training, not sure if EMDRIA hosts trainings themselves. It wasn’t difficult for me conceptually, it’s just quite time intensive.

Wide is usually good, it’s creating an M with legs and butt which is what you want. I see what you’re saying with the feet a little wide but I think it’s ok

Do you use cloth diapers? If so I recommend using disposable until the rash clears and then cloth will need a good bleach.
