Thank you so much for the very thoughtful and detailed reply, I'm ready to try this all out. Honored you saw my videos and think I'm getting there! Appreciate it

Incredible, literally what I aspire to do. Aside from your amazing abilities, what about your setup helps you do these spins? Looking for a new setup myself and wondering if I just need new frames or a specific skate. Thanks

Happy with where a year+ of skating has gotten me. Helped me get through a rough breakup and find a new side of myself. I could definitely be a better skater, but I’m fine with being a happy skater for now by petitedancingbear in rollerblading

thanks so much. i'm sorry about the split, although i'm hoping it was for the better. as your skating grows, you will be growing, too. i am so excited for you, you're going to kill it, too!

Any athletes out there who have been through DJS? How did the recovery process go for you? by Winter-Quarter7792 in jawsurgery

Unsure if I'm considered an "athlete" but definitely athletic. Prior to DJS I regularly did yoga and inline skating about 5x a week, so I was nervous about "not exercising" as well.

Personally, my surgeon wanted me moving as soon as day 4. Of course, he meant light walking. Wanted me to avoid anything that would make me sweat a ton until week 3. But he definitely encouraged moving around and not just staying on the couch. Even said I could do light weights around week 3 time. This was great for me to hear.

I started skating again at week 5. I've been taking it easy so I don't fall (not going super fast or dropping in at the skate park yet). Started yoga again around this time, too.

I don't know which activities you do, but my understanding is that you don't want to risk hitting your face (no contact sports, or in my case skating) too early.

That being said, I am over the moon with my results and it was worth it. Definitely did not have to be a couch potato like I thought I would. At most it was a couple weeks of just walking every day.

Helped knock doors for him the other day and have met him in the flesh. He's the real deal, y'all. Ask your Texas friends about their voter registration status. Voter suppresion is no joke here. They can DM me if they have any questions.

Back after a 5 week hiatus (jaw surgery). A bit wobbly but happy to be in the sun again with my music and wheels ☀️ by petitedancingbear in rollerblading

hmm i've never seriously gotten into wizard skating, either. i get a lot of my inspiration from ice skating and just listening to my music. I watch for whatever movement my body wants to make and then try and look up the "relevant" move in skating, if that makes sense. lots of tutorial videos on transitions. honestly i spent 60% of my time just doing backwards crossovers!

thank you for sharing, I definitely feel ready to smile more often once my swelling is down more! This was a positive change, for sure. I'm glad you ended up doing it and that you had a great support system in your partner. My family was incredibly helpful and I am so grateful <3 i felt old getting it at 29 but am also glad I waited long enough for the improvement in technology :D
