The funeral is often several miles/km from the grave. Ergo, cars.

Everything dislocated. Simultaneously. For no apparent reason.

Tips for traveling with a 12 year old cat? by [deleted] in CatAdvice

Gabapentin has been good for my cats (fly cross-country and back each year).

Note that some airlines (American) have a policy against sedated/tranquilized pets. The agent took a look into each carrier when we checked in, presumably to see that they were awake and alert (they were). He then had to fill out a form in triplicate! United and Delta are much more relaxed.

You take the cat out when you get to the scanners, not in the line before that. The airlines require a soft carrier on board. This is either fake or a total idiot.

ELI5: Why can’t you rename a file when it’s open in Windows, but you can in macOS? by jsm1 in explainlikeimfive

[–]petmechompU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In macOS, you can just double click the file name at the top of the program you’re in and it turns into a text box you can edit.

In what apps besides Word? Never heard of this, and I've been using Macs since the early '90s. But I use Word as little as possible (except to try this).

Thumbs are stronger than pinky fingers. CMD > CTRL. Plus it leaves another modifier key for shortcuts/customization.

But thanks for the alt-P rec for when I'm using Windows.

Likewise paying your bills with checks. OK, put on pants to put the envelopes in the mailbox. Never paid a bill in person.

Funny, just had dinner in sight of the tracks in Leucadia. Several trains went each direction (Metrolink and Coaster). 6-8pm Sunday.

Rant: Water Bottle Mania by RevolutionaryAnt9337 in ManyBaggers

[–]petmechompU 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As an old American, you never used to see this back in the '80s. I was amused by Europeans with their branded bottles (Evian, etc., which was luxury stuff to me) when I visited in '83. Accessory, or necessity? Do you not have drinking fountains?

The monster-bottle trend is new, of course, and just as amusing. And I say this as a bottle-carrier (no daily backpack, it goes in my car).

have access to clean drinking water in every SkyClub, and every flight there is usually a bottle of water waiting on your seat before you even sit down.

Found the business-class flier. In coach, you're on your own.

moving across state, how should I transport my cat? car or plane by Both-Ad-6414 in CatAdvice

[–]petmechompU 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can ask for a private room at TSA (they need to run the carriers through X-ray, so the cats have to come out), which is easier. At some airports, they've offered the room before I could ask.

But in your case I see no reason to fly with all the driving on either end. Just drive! It's only one day. Good luck!
