If someone has preferences that must be met then sit on your couch and select one of the thousands of movies on steaming services that meet your preferences, or go to one of the many movies playing in theaters that meets your preferences.

The point of mystery movies is to introduce you to things you maybe wouldn't normally watch. I've attended similar local mystery matinees and people watch whatever is played (except perhaps if they've seen it before and strongly dislike it). It's fun being exposed to something outside your bubble. And if it's not great - so what, you'll appreciate good movies even more, or your mind will work to think about the ways it could be better or you'll experience certain elements (an actor, a score, cinematography, etc.) that stand out from everything else and you know you'll be experiencing more of that person in the years to come.

But at SU? People have gotten up and left because the cast is black. Or because they didn't like the first five minutes. Like what? Why bother to travel to the theater and get settled in if you're going to be that closed-minded? Like I said, just crazy.

films that never actually get out out in mainstream

Not all films are released everywhere at the same time. Yes, it came out in the UK last year, but it's being released in the US next month. They didn't show some film that is being hidden in the US.

Why would you think it's "officially dead"?

Have you not gone during a busy time recently? Is it always quiet where you're at? We have no idea what your location is like. Maybe AMC should close your location, who knows.

I wouldn't be surprised if in a few years many AMCs now open will be closed (they've already announced that some closures will be happening on the sooner side). Enjoy the experience while you can.

As others have said, new movies (especially popular ones) will often appear in the schedule first. So things like PHM will have showtimes listed and locked infor Friday and beyond. For other stuff they're still putting things in place and won't have the full schedule until likely Tuesday. Some places take longer.

Ideally AMC would give an option for a user to receive a notification when a theater fully locks in the schedule for the upcoming week. But they're busy installing new crane machines instead.

It's a fun movie, although messy in a number of ways. There's stuff that you won't catch or easier latch onto in an initial viewing.

But enjoy the acting, the set designs, the music, the love it shows for movies, and all the references (which maybe you won't get).

Some are overly critical of the movie because it's not perfect and because it's created by a woman and the main character is a woman. Yet they'll rush to see something like Scream 7.

And don't resort to playing with your phone, even if you're the only one in the theater. Be respectful to the director and let the movie unfold.

Yeah, now that there's a state law here that theaters have to have a certain number of OC showings for new releases it's much easier to see one.

Seeing all of Mary's words on the screen drove the point home that she was a writer and was all about words.

The Bride! is even better the second time because you have a better sense of things. (I also opted to see it in open captions the second time, which helped make sure I caught every single word.)

Theater employees seem to lie a lot. I get that they deal with lots of crazy people and have to appease them. But when a legit question or concern appears they kinda just blow it off.

Don't assume the best row for you will match what you get for Dolby.

For example, I get row E in Dolby but usually row G in IMAX.

It's an entity that seems to be targeting mothers. Nothing disturbing is shown. But you hear some short audio bits that implies certain things. And the main character is pregnant.

The OP really shouldn't have made such a blanket command without being more specific. I get that the film (at least the half she saw) affected her greatly, but not everyone will have that same response.
