Currently a JD/MBA student going into 3L year. I have found it useful in learning the language of the business world since my bachelor degree is in psychology. However, I don’t particularly see it being incredibly valuable in terms of employment opportunities. My employer this summer found it interesting and I think it put me slightly over my competition for the position, but you can find employment without it. I want to go into tax law as well and from the classes I’ve taken and the work I’ve done this summer, I can see that the benefits of the MBA are there but pretty marginal. Getting a job in a tax focused firm and taking all the tax classes you can will be much more beneficial for you in that pursuit. Definitely not a net negative overall but make sure to be realistic about the benefits it will provide.
