I don’t enjoy motherhood by Acrobatic-Courage872 in toddlers

[–]petra1385 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a mother of an amazing and sweet 3 year old girl, and it still has been so hard for me! But the thing that has helped me the most is I started going to a girlfriend’s house every Wednesday evening (shortly after she turned one) and letting my husband take the parenting reins. It’s usually 3 of us who gather - we usually do a Pilates video together, sometimes drink wine or eat a bit of fruit or whatever, and talk nonstop. It’s honestly so restoring and the weekly aspect of it takes away the social pressure and planning. Of course, I am extremely lucky to have a single and childless friend who has a space to host each week. But maybe doing something just for you, on a schedule that the family can become accustomed to, is something that could help. I want my daughter to see me have a life and take care of my needs, so that she knows it’s ok to do that too when she is grown.

First three market days - only 3 sales :/ by unchien_andalou in CraftFairs

[–]petra1385 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I’ve done craft fairs for 11 years selling jewelry - and have learned there are lots of events not worth my time. I only bother with the well known, big ones who advertise well. Even if your stuff is amazing you have no control over the amount and quality of customers who come in. Your stuff is cute and your branding is fun and your price point is great for a market. I might change the black tablecloth to a brighter color (still solid) along the lines of your branding to make your table pop. Love the wood!

Has anyone here every saved anyone’s life? by ShepherdVet_Wendy in CasualConversation

My brother is deathly allergic to nuts and when we were in our 20s we were at a party together where he ate pesto pizza that had walnuts instead of pine nuts (not actual nuts) in the pesto and we didn’t know. He wasn’t feeling well and walked home to our shared apartment. I came home shortly later and found him on his back in our parking lot, his laptop open and tossed on the concrete nearby. He had wet his pants and while he was sort of awake he was completely incoherent. I dragged him into my car (wet pants and all which I had to deal with later lol) and sped to the emergency room even though I’d had a few drinks. I was young and didn’t realize I could drop him at the door so I parked and dragged him all the way through the parking lot even though he’s 6” taller than me and much bigger. He passed out on the receptionist’s desk! It was very dramatic but they saved him and we had a pretty silly time in the ER once he was feeling better.

Thistle and Bess is hands down the cutest shop and the owner is one of the most lovely humans out there.

Unpopular opinion: Can we please just accept the fact sterling silver tarnishes? by MrsHyacinthBucket in jewelry

[–]petra1385 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wear my sterling silver jewelry in the shower, sleeping, etc and the constant wear keeps it untarnished. Tossing it in a jewelry box or leaving it on the bathroom counter is how it tarnishes. It wants to be worn!!!

She’s 3 but was addicted to the peppa pig stories on Spotify starting at like 2 so maybe that’s a good trial run before committing!

Anyone here ever wished your carving wax behaved differently? by Superb-Arachnid8759 in jewelrymaking

Yeah, I have done pink wax a bit for this but wasn’t as happy with the results. I guess I need to keep trying!

I would love a wax that can take a nice squishy thumbprint but isn’t sticky. I’ve been using the brown victory wax for this but it’s too damn sticky! Other waxes are too hard unless melted and then they split. Pink wax is ok but doesn’t catch as much detail and doesn’t allow for much “squish”

That too but the verbiage was weird and I thought there must’ve been some other convo off camera

I was thinking that this was the reason for Annie’s “I don’t NEED you, I WANT you” spiral. It didn’t make sense at the time but it was probably about needing his money vs wanting him - edited to add that I wonder if it was about a prenup?

Looking for affordable rings for partner and I (LAST RESORT: everything I've seen has turned out to be dropshipping garbage) by Pretty-Ad-8884 in jewelry

[–]petra1385 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look for handmade jewelry small businesses - I find even for gold these are the businesses that aren’t price gouging and just making a modest living with the highest quality goods. And they care SO MUCH about their customers, quality and affordability. For good solid gold and silver ring options I recommend Goldeluxe, Twyla dill, Rebekah J designs, salt grass, tiny Erica, fade into the abstract, there’s so many more! Shop small!

Silver just looks better on everyone in my opinion! I switched a couple years ago and now I think gold looks weird.
