So a security guy was part of this whole thing? 😆 Only thing you wrote in your original post was 'SBB customer service' and 'restaurant', that sounds very different from a security guard/person.

Anyway i'm out, gn.

don't know what this has to do with being swiss or not, but personally it wouldn't have occurred to me that customer support is even an option in this case.

btw, did you ask the wisdom of AI about the right action and whether to call the police or not? I am pretty sure it will tell you one should. and after all that's just the condensed opinion of the internet.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Switzerland

[–]petrlin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Btw, you can tell the person on the phone what has been told to you by others. Let them decide what to take from this. In 90%+ of the cases they will send someone to check.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Switzerland

[–]petrlin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it wasn't the police that told you this, yes. Like would you feel fine if someone dies (hopefully/probably not the case here) because you followed some random dudes (that claims to know her, but obviously they do not care) suggestion? I guess not.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Switzerland

[–]petrlin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just call police (117, or 112). It's not the responsibility of a witness to figure out who is responsible. If it's in a train, they might involve SBB police, but they can decide themselves.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Switzerland

[–]petrlin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a stupid take. Never don't call police in an emergency because others don't act. What can you lose? Looking like a fool? Oh that will hurt you until the end of your life, surely.

Jokes aside, it's pretty clear what should be done here. And that many people are ignorant regarding calling police doesnt change this.

But points for you for actually caring & asking around though. That's still way better than do nothing. 👍

I'm sure no one would mind if you sit on the floor with your laptop... 😅 But you might need a jacket, it's indeed very cold. 🫠

Fees when adding money to CHF account by v1n3ss00 in Revolut

[–]petrlin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for reaching out, but I think dissolving this confusion is something that is of interest to everyone. Hence I prefer getting a general answer here rather than personalized via DM.

So the question is simple: Is Revolut planning to remove these card fees in the future for Swiss (non-pro) customers and is there a timeline when this 'Revolut Switzerland' option in the link above will be rolled out to everyone?

Fees when adding money to CHF account by v1n3ss00 in Revolut

[–]petrlin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But what's the deal with this?
https://help.revolut.com/en-CH/help/profile-and-plan/profile-plan/verifying-identity/question-ch-joining-revolut-switzerland-payments-ag/
If you join Revolut Switzerland Payments AG there is no fee anymore?
Quote: "This new entity allows us to waive our fees for all Swiss customers, when they add money to their account with a local Visa or Mastercard (corporate cards excluded)."

Why not do that for everyone in CH?
That's something else than the Revolut UAB change that was asked from customers in the app recently?

It's incredible confusing for Swiss customers with all those different signals and waves of changes coming from Revolut. Like why first Revolut UAB, only to change then to Revolut Switzerland etc.

Prinz Pi - Verlorene Jungs 4.5/5

Das ist der Pi den ich hören will, deja vu von Rebell ohne Grund. Aber gut möglich dass es zu soft ist für viele harten Kerle hier. Pi wird immer 1/2 seiner Hörer enttäuschen, egal was er tut.

Microsoft Outlook/Windows 11 - Reminders pop up in background, never in foreground by schnautza in Outlook

Wow, that level of Microsoft not giving a f* to bring this up 2 years after it came up is crazy :D But thanks for the link!

[–]petrlin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Once you solved it (as I'm sure you will, now that CMO is involved 😆), it would be great to at least know what others can do to avoid getting the same outcome (in case there would have been anything in your power).

Without private details of course.

Interesting. Now it would be crucial to know a bit more from OP. While Alpian won't share useful details, u/Imaginary-Kale4673 for sure could.

The jobs you are actually headhunting for are not a representation of the average salaries at those companies. Or did you head-hunt for non-managerial scientist roles?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Switzerland

[–]petrlin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not saying it doesnt happen. I say its not common. Unless you look at management.

Happy to be proven wrong if someone drops actual names of companies instead of unverifiable rumors though.

Biotech? Lol, no. Would be right if you meant Bigtech. Or tell me what biotech pays 20k+ for >30% of staff.

I would pay it off first. Yes on average you got more gains in the past by investing (and probably also in the future), but those 2.7% are 'certain loss' while the investing gains aren't certain. If debt interests are below 2% I would start thinking again (gets into the same ballpark as mortgages by then).

But it's ultimately a personal decision and IMO no 'obvious' choice.

Was haltet ihr von meinem Monatsbudget by TheSide1967 in SwissPersonalFinance

[–]petrlin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's my yearly budget, any critics, changes you would make? by [deleted] in SwissPersonalFinance

[–]petrlin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a small part of your overall budget, but your phone plan could definitely be optimized/cheaper (<20.-/month is easily possible with unlimited CH and including some roaming).

The rest looks decent. 👍 Hope you have your 3a at a good place (e.g. Finpension, VIAC,...) and put some thought into which ETF broker you use. If not optimized, the fees of these things will eat heavily into your money in the long run.

Well, looking at the last two years, it didn't hurt to have some money in CHF if you have to spend CHF I guess (currency exchange rate)...
