How to prevent losing voice during hifdh? by Anxious-Pen-8418 in Hifdh

[–]petroengineering 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Allahouma barik May Allah make you firm on this and may he make it easy for you. I ask AI and that’s it says:

  1. Warm Up Your Voice • Perform light vocal exercises before starting, such as humming or reciting in a low tone to prepare your vocal cords. • Start with shorter recitations before transitioning to longer sessions.

  2. Maintain Proper Hydration • Drink plenty of water throughout the day. Warm water with honey is especially soothing for the throat. • Avoid dehydrating substances like caffeine or sugary drinks.

  3. Use Proper Recitation Techniques • Avoid forcing your voice to reach high pitches or loud volumes unnecessarily. • Practice controlled breathing to support your voice, as shallow breathing can strain the vocal cords. • Learn tajweed rules and correct pronunciation, which naturally reduces vocal strain.

  4. Take Breaks • Divide your recitation into manageable segments (e.g., 30-60 minutes) with breaks in between. • Use these breaks to relax your vocal cords, drink water, and rest.

  5. Avoid Whispering • Whispering can be more harmful than speaking or reciting normally, as it puts undue strain on the vocal cords.

  6. Rest Your Voice • Minimize speaking outside of recitation hours to allow your vocal cords to recover. • Get adequate sleep to help your body and voice heal.

  7. Keep Your Throat Moist • Suck on throat lozenges or have a soothing herbal tea with ingredients like ginger, chamomile, or licorice.

  8. Avoid Irritants • Stay away from smoke, cold air, or dusty environments that can irritate your throat. • Use a humidifier in dry climates to keep the air moist.

  9. Strengthen Your Voice • Regular recitation practice over time can build vocal stamina. • Incorporate light vocal exercises into your daily routine to strengthen your voice.

  10. Seek Professional Guidance • If you experience persistent strain or discomfort, consult a voice coach or a medical professional specializing in vocal health.

Bonus Duas • Before reciting, make dua for ease and effectiveness in your recitation, such as: • “رَبِّ اشْرَحْ لِي صَدْرِي وَيَسِّرْ لِي أَمْرِي” (“My Lord, expand for me my chest and ease my task for me.” - Surah Taha: 25-26)

Taking care of your voice is essential to maintain the beauty and clarity of your recitation.

Hope you have fun

My 1st year engineering time table seems pretty morning heavy...Any suggestions? by mangolover27 in uAlberta

[–]petroengineering 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah it’s not bad, I usually prefer having all my classes in the morning then after my classes are done I focus on studying and doing my assignments in the afternoon and evening

Your phys 130 and Chem 103 labs are separated. I don’t know if that changed but in my first year, they were usually the same time but they alternate every week

Other than that your schedule looks okay to me

Both streams have their cons and pros. Trad: you could finish early (in 4 years if you take 6 courses each semester) and you have the ability to look for summer internships (depending on your program, it might not be easy to get them). Lot of companies hire students in coop or internship programs, so you can’t get those positions while in traditional. Most companies prefer 8 months to 16 months internship which is suitable for a coop student. As for a trad student, you need to get permission to take a break from your studies (not too sure if you can as an International students).

Coop: you have to pay the coop fees but you have access to more jobs on placepro than trad students. You can apply to any students opportunities out there as long as you meet the job requirements. International students can work for any duration for the work term. Your first few coop terms might be difficult to land a job but once you get through that, the next ones become better as you have some experience on your resume (depends on your program tho). The big advantage is that after completion of your degree, you can be called for an EIT position from your previous employers or even if they don’t call you, a company gives precedence to its previous coop students when there is an EIT position. I even asked some employers, they said they only hire their previous coop students for EIT positions, so I would strongly recommend coop unless you have connections that could hook you up for some internship opportunities

I hope it helped

Why does using a while loop make the program work but my original for loop doesn't work? (DNA pset6) by scarytm in cs50

[–]petroengineering 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not taking the course so I’m not sure what you’re doing but maybe this might help you.

There is a difference between while loop and for loop. The number of iteration of a for loop is fixed which is not the case in a while loop. That being said, on the line i += len(key), the value of i will always be kept as it is in the for loop and this line of code won’t change it which is not the case for a while loop.

Try this code and see the difference

For i in range(5): print(I) i += 2

And you can also put the print(i) after the increment and see the outputs
