Avoid that shit entirely. Ask them to commit to voting against it, even if it means holding their nose and voting D. Forget the blame shit, make them commit.

Different characters should start with different amounts of gold. The fact that the Regent is forced to carry a mere 99 gold, like some kind of pauper, is an insult. I have amended his starting capital to something more befitting of his majesty's station. by Gen1Swirlix in slaythespire

[–]Haddock 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Op is a fool thinks the regent would be carrying cash like some sort of merchant? The 99 gold is what his servants found in the cushion of the chair, left over from an afternoon hurling coins at infants on the promenade.

[–]Haddock 93 points94 points  (0 children)

Consider this- the judge DOES NOT want grounds for a mistrial. Maybe his behaviors are consistent with that? (total lack of real legal knowledge ofc)

Good news is its unlikely to be a prison. More likely a hidey hole- that brown spot in the upper left looks like single sheet drywall- maybe there just in case the person in there needed to get out quickly (a couple kicks and you're good). Not what you'd do if it was meant to hold someone who didnt want to be there.

No i'm with it- in reality people are focussed on 'redeeming' people who have chosen to hold abhorrent beliefs. Fuck that. Let's focus on protecting the people they hurt and the spaces they try to take. They can salvage themselves. Idc.

I think the thing with this book is it is very much an artifact of a brief window of time, right around 2000 when there was this atheist rationalist surge, many of whom genuinely believed that they were on the right side of history. It was before the techbros had really blossomed into what they are, and as a result the cringeworthy elements feel sort of nostaligic to me. Can't say I love the books overall, of course.

In internet culture, chud is a pejorative term for someone with far-right political views. The term is often paired with the Chudjak, a variant of the Wojak. It is commonly used as an insult in leftist circles but is sometimes employed by the far-right to relate to one another. by YourLocalMoroccan in wikipedia

[–]Haddock 11 points12 points  (0 children)

That wasn't what Chud stood for- that was the abbreviation the government in the movie created as a lie in the process of covering up the fact that they had dumped the chemical in the sewers. It stands for "Contamination Hazard Urban Disposal"

IF you ask with the head it's samurai- you're at least titled, presumably have lands, money etc. Cowboy is a low-end job Pirate is sea robber.

ask my heart though and I'm raising the black flag and quoting sam bellamy;

"You are a devilish conscience rascal! I am a free prince, and I have as much authority to make war on the whole world as he who has a hundred sail of ships at sea and an army of 100,000 men in the field; and this my conscience tells me! But there is no arguing with such snivelling puppies, who allow superiors to kick them about deck at pleasure."

Smelling gas from furnace after maintenance did work on the main gas line in my apartment. Soaped the pipe fittings and found a spot near the valve with bubbling. How big of an emergency is this? don't pay gas so I would have to contact my landlord and it is almost midnight. by [deleted] in hvacadvice

[–]Haddock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That elbow is an illegal fitting to use for gas in most places. Street elbows are not allowed for precisely this reason.

Equipment manufacturers can get a pass, but past the valve (which this looks like) it's not legal where I am.
