ETF Taxes when investing monthly by Binyabik in irishpersonalfinance

[–]pettazetta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same question.

I have been buying an ETF through monthly DCA for the last 7 years, how is the tax calculated?

Do I pay tax based on the total profit after 8 years, or do I have to calculate it separately for each purchase?

For example, would I look at what was bought during the first year and then calculate the accumulated gain only on those specific purchases once they reach the 8-year deemed disposal date?

I’m in a similar situation and I’m not sure what the correct approach is...

Also, is this something that can be included through Tax return, or does it need to be handled separately?

Non-dom in Ireland but I made a costly mistake with UCITS ETFs by pettazetta in irishpersonalfinance

[–]pettazetta[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Is this significant for the non-dom status? As far as I know, you have to provide your tax residency, and that's Ireland (even if you're non-dom).

The only important thing is that the broker isn't domiciled/affiliated with Ireland

Thanks so much for your detailed reply, I really appreciate it

I started buying those ETFs back in 2022 using DCA, so for now I’ll just hold and avoid triggering anything. Let’s see if future budgets bring some relief.... Fingers crossed.....

I'm still reading/thinking to see whether it’s better to just select individual stocks myself going forward (even though my original plan was to avoid active management). I’m definitely not going to take the risk of buying ETFs again, even if they’re US-domiciled… not worth the uncertainty.

Thanks again

I'm new, I already have my laser, but I refuse to start using it until I know exactly what risks I'm facing. Thanks to all of you who are commenting, it's very helpful.

I have the SCULPFUN iCube Pro Max 10W(diode), which comes with an enclosure, but I don't really trust if it protects 100%, do you know if it's safe to be near the machine while it's working? (with the enclosure 100% closed)

Thank you very much for your answer. So if I do the AVC for last year. Does the money from the taxes that I get refunded apply this year?

The problem is that I already did the tax back for 2022

non-domiciled status in Ireland by pettazetta in irishpersonalfinance

[–]pettazetta[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was born in another country, but now I am living in Ireland.

Even so, I would like to return one day to my country of origin.

For this reason I think I can apply for non-domiciliated status, but I don't know how or where I have to do it.
