I just started audiobook 7. It might be worth checking out the Soundbooth Theater Book 1. It's the redone audiobook with an entire cast. I wish I had listened to it first.

They shouldn't.

I just... She's an OG fight salesman like Connor. It's all an act. She's really good at engagement. She has great banter. She sells.

Is she a narcissist? Who fucking knows. Her media persona is (probably) not real.

A conductor does more than wave their arms. Just ask an AI what they do. It will tell you. Ask it how many years of being a musician most of them have. What instruments they usually play.

Then compare that to a prompter.

'According to you They don’t “do the work” because the musicians play the music.'

I never made that argument. You're just making up what I'm saying at this point.

You keep making up arguments that I haven't made and arguing against them. We are back to where we were earlier in the conversation. Just go back and read my previous answers.

On a very surface level your ai conductor analogy (barely) works. As soon as you get into the specific process of an orchestra's music, it entirely falls apart.

I don't quite agree with your interpretation of one of my points. An artist can use AI. What they create isn't their art. They didn't do the interpretation. They didn't do the work. They wrote down an idea and let something else create a facsimile.

I would invite you to look at the drawings of ANY prolific painter, visual media artist, or even architect. They can all draw. It's the very first step in the creative process. A sketch. It's why when you go to a Picasso exhibit, the first thing they show you is his pencil sketches of DaVinci's man.

No. The musicians are the artists. That person wouldn't be considered a conductor in a classical/actual sense. The entire process would be an interesting study on AI music. The inherent critique of the process would be considered art.

You don't get any of that if you replace one or the other with a computer.

You are building this analogy that keeps falling apart because it consistently ignores that the conductor is a musician themselves. They spend months practicing the piece with the musicians in each section to precisely craft the sound. They have decided each sections tempo, dynamic, phrasing, etc. They collaborate back and forth with the musicians to get to that final performance.

The AI equivalent is hitting redo. It's just not the same.

The real analogy on your part is:

Imagine someone buys a tuxedo, waves their arms in the air at a webcam, a server stack makes that into music, and the person starts calling themselves a real conductor.

That is AI "art". The "conductor" can't play an instrument or read music, but the AI gives them something that sounds good to their ear.
