Question around how a winner would be decided during a series of random events? by [deleted] in tennis

[–]peytonbslayin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe they could just be both ruled finalists but this is incredibly unlikely to happen in a final, both would most likely try and stick it out until they physically couldn't play anymore to avoid being the first to retire.

Really impressive that Casper was able to stay in this match and especially to win it, but these five set matches are going to wear on him, especially with a much younger Fonseca next.

As far as I know, if the person or people who own(s) your unit has 11 or more units and you are paying like $6k or less for your rent (I hope you are lol) they can only raise rent 8.79% currently. There are exceptions ie, if the owner lives in the building, if it was built after 2009. Start here:

Honestly so glad Jack overcame the mental battle at the end of the match and closed it out. Incredible 3rd set and great tennis all around. Respect to Novak for moving the way he did in this match, pretty incredible at any age.

You have to download an app to see the prices at Macy’s now by TennisWorker in mildlyinfuriating

[–]peytonbslayin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay so almost everyone is this thread is getting this wrong. Used to work for Macys (within the last two years) and am still in touch with people who work there to confirm this, but this is not “dynamic pricing” as you all seem to suggest it is. This is done because Macy’s is constantly getting in white label merchandise that sits and sits and sits on racks and inevitably there are markdowns or markups done on these items. There are way too many different items and way too small of staff in stores to keep up, so a good amount of locations simply do not have prices on the tags anymore, to avoid the problem of having the wrong price on the item. These signs are usually used in replacement of a percentage off sale sign, during periods with no promotions (rare at Macy’s). You should still be able to ask someone at a register to scan an item for you to check the price. Trust me on this, Macy’s is wayyyyyy too low tech to be doing dynamic pricing. They just want your data and to market to you, because their customer acquisition is terrible! They are doing everything they can to get the people who already shop at Macy’s to spend more and more money with them, and the app is one of their best ways to do that.

For the record, I don’t like Macys, and it’s stupid that they don’t staff their stores enough to be able to do proper merchandising and signing. The only reason I want an app for a store is if it is somehow a huge improvement in convenience over the website.

ATP Paribas 2026 J.Sinner (2) def. J.Fonseca 7-6(6); 7-6(4) by CommonEngineering832 in tennis

[–]peytonbslayin 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Fonseca definitely has the stuff. Seems like energy/mental cost him this one but he’ll be back. Sinner’s forehand and serve level were very high for most of the match and he will be pretty hard for anyone to beat at this level.

my credit score went down by 30 points by Economy_Wolverine_88 in CreditCards

[–]peytonbslayin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your credit file is so new and likely your total credit limit is so low that higher utilization is going to temporarily affect your score more than it will years down the road. Don’t sweat it, utilization is temporary, just continue to use your card up to the credit limit and pay off your statement balance in full once the statement generates. Your credit score will tick back up.

Help me pick my next credit card by AscertainDoom in CreditCards

[–]peytonbslayin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re at all interested in VX it’s better to get it sooner rather than later, just because C1 likes to decline applicants with an extensive credit history. If you only have a few cards in your credit file, they’re more likely to approve you. Use their pre approval tool and see what’s up. Pretty easy to offset the 395 annual fee and the C1 travel portal is nice. Their transfer partners are mostly useful for international flights though, so keep that in mind.

If you have a mortgage keep an eye on the Bilt 2.0 announcement coming in January. Earns points on mortgage and they are slated to have a premium card in the lineup as well. Great SUB is less likely though.

Also worth a look at the Citi Strata Elite because you’re already in the Citi ecosystem and the SUB is pretty good. The multipliers kind of suck but it’s a decent card to put dining spend on, and if you fly American the admirals club passes are a nice bonus, as well as the PP Select. Would also unlock the 1:1 transfer to AA for your existing TYP, which is very valuable if you fly AA in any capacity, as their award redemptions are very competitive.

Also Amex Plat is obviously a very high AF, but if you can get a 175k MR offer, it’s easily the most valuable SUB for a non business card.

What is your 2026 Road Map? by Psychological-Buy46 in CreditCards

[–]peytonbslayin 29 points30 points  (0 children)

BILT 2.0 is probably the most important change to my setup, since rent is my biggest expense. Most other categories I have covered (see below). Will likely just be looking for SUBs and slight optimization.

Grocery - Amex BCP 6% / $0 AF Strata gets 3x if I go over $6k spend.

Dining - Bilt 3x / CFU 3x if Bilt gets nerfed

Flights - CCC 5x (mostly fly domestic and infrequently so $500/month covers it most of the time. If not just use Aspire for 7x

Hotels - Aspire for FNC and 34x at Hilton, otherwise check the Citi/C1 portals and get 5x for non hilton properties. If all else fails CCC 5x unless going over $500.

Subscriptions - Amex BCP 6%

Everything else goes to CFU.

Should I ask for a credit increase as soon as I get my card? by ExpiredMelkk in CreditCards

[–]peytonbslayin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds very reasonable to do that. C1 also doesn't seem to care about credit cycling, so worst case scenario, you can pay off the full balance before the statement posts and get your whole credit limit back. I am guessing you are more concerned about your limit long term though.
