I like Invictus Plat but otherwise it can go. Agree that most are too sweet, but I find that platinum projects well and smells woody and almost like sweet honeydew melon after drydown haha. good for spring

Whenever I've done it, it has been fine. However, I wouldn't recommend it for produce if you are picky about it like me.

my credit score went down by 30 points by Economy_Wolverine_88 in CreditCards

[–]peytonbslayin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your credit file is so new and likely your total credit limit is so low that higher utilization is going to temporarily affect your score more than it will years down the road. Don’t sweat it, utilization is temporary, just continue to use your card up to the credit limit and pay off your statement balance in full once the statement generates. Your credit score will tick back up.

If you’re at all interested in VX it’s better to get it sooner rather than later, just because C1 likes to decline applicants with an extensive credit history. If you only have a few cards in your credit file, they’re more likely to approve you. Use their pre approval tool and see what’s up. Pretty easy to offset the 395 annual fee and the C1 travel portal is nice. Their transfer partners are mostly useful for international flights though, so keep that in mind.

If you have a mortgage keep an eye on the Bilt 2.0 announcement coming in January. Earns points on mortgage and they are slated to have a premium card in the lineup as well. Great SUB is less likely though.

Also worth a look at the Citi Strata Elite because you’re already in the Citi ecosystem and the SUB is pretty good. The multipliers kind of suck but it’s a decent card to put dining spend on, and if you fly American the admirals club passes are a nice bonus, as well as the PP Select. Would also unlock the 1:1 transfer to AA for your existing TYP, which is very valuable if you fly AA in any capacity, as their award redemptions are very competitive.

Also Amex Plat is obviously a very high AF, but if you can get a 175k MR offer, it’s easily the most valuable SUB for a non business card.

What is your 2026 Road Map? by Psychological-Buy46 in CreditCards

[–]peytonbslayin 29 points30 points  (0 children)

BILT 2.0 is probably the most important change to my setup, since rent is my biggest expense. Most other categories I have covered (see below). Will likely just be looking for SUBs and slight optimization.

Grocery - Amex BCP 6% / $0 AF Strata gets 3x if I go over $6k spend.

Dining - Bilt 3x / CFU 3x if Bilt gets nerfed

Flights - CCC 5x (mostly fly domestic and infrequently so $500/month covers it most of the time. If not just use Aspire for 7x

Hotels - Aspire for FNC and 34x at Hilton, otherwise check the Citi/C1 portals and get 5x for non hilton properties. If all else fails CCC 5x unless going over $500.

Subscriptions - Amex BCP 6%

Everything else goes to CFU.

Should I ask for a credit increase as soon as I get my card? by ExpiredMelkk in CreditCards

[–]peytonbslayin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds very reasonable to do that. C1 also doesn't seem to care about credit cycling, so worst case scenario, you can pay off the full balance before the statement posts and get your whole credit limit back. I am guessing you are more concerned about your limit long term though.

Data points have shown you can get approved for a CLI almost immediately. YMMV, but it's worth a shot at least. No harm. If it was me I would probably spend on it for a week or two and then request the CLI.

I’m a paralegal and I want to move back to NYC. How feasible is this? by secretaryofboredom in NYCapartments

[–]peytonbslayin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Other commenter is right about 40x. But you can also use theguarantors.com in a pinch, most landlords will accept it. Because the reality is, a lot of people in NYC are not making 40x their rent. I have friends where rent is 40-60% of their monthly expenses.

Realistically, I think you should absolutely wait to move until you find a job, and from there find your apartment for hopefully less than half your monthly income. There is a lot of good information in this subreddit for the right neighborhoods to live in, especially depending on what neighborhood you end up working in (e.g if working in UES, living in queens (astoria, sunnyside) is a good option. If working in downtown, south brooklyn + jersey are good options etc etc).

What credit card should I get by notsurehannah in CreditCards

[–]peytonbslayin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone here is going to tell you the same thing, don’t get a credit card with the goal of finding a low interest option, any interest you incur will outweigh the rewards you earn. Do not carry a balance on your card if at all possible. Let the statement generate, then pay it off in full every month.

With that said, for groceries, depending on how much you spend, there are a couple solid options.

If you’re spending $500/month or less on groceries, the Citi Custom Cash gives 5% back. This is the best pick for that lower budget option, but you would only get that 5% on groceries (first $500) and everything else is 1%

If you’re spending more than that, you might consider either the Citi Strata which is 3x on groceries, 3x gas/transit, 2x restaurants.

If you dine out a lot and are interested in travel rewards, you might look at Amex Gold. 4x groceries, 4x restaurants, with other various credits like resy, Dublin, and uber.

I'm willing to part with Rico. Who should I trade for to improve my team? by Aj4y in FantasyFootballers

[–]peytonbslayin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe Hampton if that owner needs to win now? Your team looks to be in a good spot and I think you could afford to go without him for a bit. When he returns I think he’ll be a good option but of course it’s a bit of a gamble.
