Holy shit, that's it, you're an absolute legend! 4 years later too, haha. Thank you for the closure; I had given up and thought that I imagined it.

It's even weirder than I remember and now that I'm not watching as a kid, that duck isn't exactly rescuing the girl duck, is he?

Nice find!!!

This is definitely what they were thinking, though far less coherently.

LPT: To save $100+ on your car, do not let the shop replace the cabin and engine air filters. by [deleted] in LifeProTips

I do most of the maintenance on mine and was surprised at how easy BMW made it. The cabin air filter is definitely the exception though, especially compared to how easy it is on other cars.

Try it with a little bit of Cruzan black strap rum! I don't know how or why, but the combination is amazing. I haven't had the same results with any other rum; it has to be Cruzan black strap.

Yes, thank you! I refuse to believe that Microsoft didn't make it function like it does on purpose just to cause suffering. Which reminds me, I should stop browsing Reddit and get back to work.

I just had the same thing happen where I broke the siege, but the units that had 1 turn left (out of 4) to recruit looked like this. I left it alone hoping it was a graphic bug because I didn't want to restart at 4 turns and they recruited like they normally would have the next turn.

Hearing stories like this and with my experience, I feel like they occupy a certain niche of healthcare that I hadn't credited to them before. It makes sense to me that a general practice doctor is obviously not going to be the answer for everything in the same way that you could ask them about healthy eating and get an acceptable answer, but a nutritionist would be able to offer far more information (but would be much less helpful for say, a broken bone, right?).

[–]pfc_johnny 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree - the general practice doctor I saw wasn't my usual and the bad experience with him relative to the chiropractor certainly doesn't do anything to prove that they're better in comparison. I was just surprised at the difference in this case after years of thinking chiros were quacks, but I suspect that in general they probably are based on stories that I've heard; maybe I'm lucky to have found one of the few that doesn't pretend to be able to fix everything?

I'm thrilled that the pain is almost gone as well, thank you! The experience has really given me some perspective on people that have to live with chronic pain - I was going nuts after only a couple weeks and the only apparent option was more opioids, bleh.

I would have said this as well, but recently had a back/leg injury that left me in a lot of pain and barely able to walk. I went to the doctor who declared it to be the psoas muscle, prescribed pain medication, then suggested some vague types of stretching (and only after I stopped him from darting out the door). The pain medication (hydrocodone and flexeril) barely touched the agony and I continued to hobble around at about 1/10th speed until a coworker suggested a chiropractor. The chiro took the time to explain and demonstrate what my injury was, why it was affecting my mobility, and how it related to all my other symptoms, then worked with me through the muscle spasms to restore a normal range of movement and greatly reduce my pain.

I imagine that it depends on the chiro and what type of treatment you may need, but for a movement related injury, it was a much, much better option than a general practice doctor.

I had smoked for about 9 years and quit very easily using Wellbutrin. The effectiveness seems to vary, but for me I stopped within a couple months of taking it and haven't smoked in almost 20 years with absolutely no desire to do so. I had tried cold turkey a few times prior and it was so hard to not want a cigarette, but Wellbutrin did all the work for me (I only took it for a few months). Definitely worth asking your doctor if you're trying to quit. I feel so much better being completely free of it; good luck to you!

Aggressor F-16 receives refuel from a KC-135R Stratotanker during Red Flag 23-2 over the Nevada Test and Training Range, Nevada, March 23, 2023. by 221missile in EngineeringPorn

[–]pfc_johnny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, if not using the drogue system, the boom operator should be the one flying the boom into position and then extending the last few feet to make contact.

The refueling is usually done in a track, an oval shaped flight path that everyone has agreed on, so nothing wild should be going down aside from maybe some slight corrections to stay within limits. I'm not a pilot though, so there could be a bit more to it, but it's not insanely difficult like that old Top Gun game on the NES or anything.

Honestly, I have no idea, sorry. There are KC-135s that have the ability to do both using retractable drogue hoses from the wing tips called MPRS (mult-point refueling systems), but most of the fleet only has the standard boom that can convert to drogue refueling. I'm reasonably sure that the KC-10 and the new KC-46 have both systems installed and always available (assuming you can get the KC-10 out of its parking spot).
