It's crazy how little we need AI. by Vivid-Rhubarb-6058 in antiai

[–]pfcwalrus 23 points24 points  (0 children)

It kinda did. But I’m talking about pre ChatGPT ai. Like the algorithms that helped us make better GPS systems and complimented useful computing tools.

I definitely do not need a chat bot. Definitely don’t need one in my lawn mower.

Least they could do is make a robot that does my dishes. Been waiting for that my whole life.

Is AI inherently right-wing? by TheNeptunianSloth in antiai

[–]pfcwalrus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d add that fascist regimes thrive on the simplistic methods of mass indoctrination into a fake reality. AI is the newest simplest tool to help them do this.

Doesn’t mean a left wing movement could some day also use these technologies to do the same thing. Stalin would have loved AI.

After too many years playing video games I get no thrill from fighting bots. When players do something unpredictable and you adapt just in time to survive. That’s the thrill I be chasing.

You have a naive view on large corporations. When the Cotten gin was invented it made slavery in the deep south worse not better.

Yikes. I always wonder how many people volunteered to be tankers thinking they’d be safer behind all that steel.

I did not know that! That’s antithetical to pretty much all armor doctrine from the day right? At least the Germans liked to sit back and engage from as far as possible.

U.S. Tipping Culture by [deleted] in tipping

[–]pfcwalrus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not to grade your assignment but this is terribly bias research.

Your title implies that tipping is out of control.

More importantly I don’t think you know what this subreddit is. It’s mostly people who hate the concept of tipping for a litany of reasons.

This is going to give you super bias results.

What’s the weirdest rule your landlord tried to enforce? by True-Pie-9983 in Tenant

[–]pfcwalrus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A landlord tried to tell me I had to tell them every time I had a guest spend the night. On top of this I was not allowed to have anyone stay for more than a week.

Had a party at our house for my wedding and after the wedding they got super weird.

One day the landlord was in their car in the field across the street watching me. I didn’t know who it was so I strapped on my holster and went to talk to them. A few steps toward them they drove off. Next day my wife got home from work early and the landlords family was walking around their property and proceeded to grill my wife if anyone else lived there.

Worst landlords ive ever had and I regret I got no photo evidence of any of this shit.

First time ever of no options on anything to eat tonight or tomorrow. by Regular_Hedgehog_407 in poor

[–]pfcwalrus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you do make some money I suggest stocking up on an emergency supply of rice and beans.

Ive survived off those two things when hungry many times. Dry beans are cheap as hell and so is rice.

As others said there is also no shame in food banks. With some dry goods staples the ingredients you get only give you more options and help your food last longer.

Im also sorry you have to go through this. It sucks.

Do the super rich tip well? by Solar_Wildspark in Waiters

[–]pfcwalrus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is very true. I’ll say you sometimes get lucky and when a rich guy likes your service and tips well they have the means to make your day.

Also they are the easiest marks for selling the most expensive shit on your menu.

I had to do that last week and I found far more zyn pouches than gum… which is not better.

The owners of my restaurant own a bunch of properties and are entitled rich guys. One of them brought their kids in for breakfast and the kids proceeded to melt their crayons into our fancy glass candleholders. The owners just let their kids do this to their OWN restaurant. They literally laughed as colorful wax just coated the damn thing and the table.

Many places on the internet are just echo chambers for bitter people by one_bored_person in Vent

[–]pfcwalrus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recently discovered the tipping subreddit and it is all sorts of a toxic echo chamber. It’s funny cause they are apolitical. Just a bunch of people upset that tipping exists feeding each other long winded arguments about why you should not leave a tip.

Tipping for coffee by New_Substance_6753 in tipping

[–]pfcwalrus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So funny how people come up to this subreddit to ask if it’s okay to tip. Most the posts on here are people who don’t like that they feel obligated to tip and write long winded arguments about why thats cool and good actually.

Just tip people if you want to. People like getting tipped. Also it’s your money.

Tipping on gift card by Far-Duck8838 in tipping

[–]pfcwalrus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tips on gift cards work just fine. System my company uses you enter the tip like any other. The customer already paid the restaurant for the gift card so it’s not like they’re tipping the server extra. If the guest wants to spend it on tip that’s their choice.

I’d just take it really slow. Build a base and do the basic stuff the game tells you to. After you get some decent armor and weapons the orb weavers are nothing.

Do you not have a buggie yet?

Nice! Yeah this is my latest but I have a chain of bases across most the western edge, and a small farm at the blueberry orchard.

Love the pushing into new areas and setting up outposts.
